No festival, just 3 Robbie gigs, 100,000 per gig. He played for a third of a million people in 3 days. Legendary!

Not a festival. They are all there for him. Three nights in a row of this size crowd. He was HUGE everywhere but the U.S. This is not his best song by a long shot, musically, but is a great high energy song for a show like this. From this same show, my two favorites are Feel and Come Undone. Angels of course. This was Robbie in his absolute prime, in his element, at the height of his powers. For me, this is the quintessential Robbie Williams song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJ_JqGCLjpV0epI

Not a festival,"just" Robbie Williams. Lots of Greats have played Knebworth. Robbie Williams was massive and still is big, though it got a little quieter in recent years. "Take That" of course was massive as well.

He's huge. I'm American and have been following him since 1999. He has the most brit awards in history. He's passed Elvis in the Uk. Was awarded the icon award next to Bowie, and Elton John. Sold 1.6 million tickets in 24 hours. He's pop, swing, rock and roll and can rap. He's a great entertainer, comedian and loves his audience.

As an American I had never heard of Robbie either before around 2000. I was and have been a huge fan of The Cult. When they reformed around that time, their bass player was a guy named Billy Morrison. I saw a news story that he got married and his good friend Robbie Williams officiated the ceremony, and it mentioned how much of a superstar he was. So I looked him up, first with the Big Band stuff (his live at Royal Albert Hall show is a hoot, he channels Sinatra for sure). Then there was a bonus feature on that DVD called "The Day Job" which showed his pop career and these huge crowds, then I watched this show and it just blew me away. His stage presence is unmatched. He alternates between having a huge ego, being humble, occasionally crying, bringing women up on stage to kiss them, he was a legend for this brief period of time.

I mean, in my opinion, a song called "Let me entertain you" is a perfect way to start a concert for someone who was Born to entertain. This is not a Festival. This is just Robbie's concert. He was huuuge at the time all over Europe, like you can't even imagine. And actually he still is big, but pretty much all of his biggest hits come from that era. Unfortunately he did not have much success in the US though. Also, the little kid at the beginning looks not really like little Gene Simmons but like Robbie in the music Video for Let me entertain you. But I guess Robbie did Look like Gene in the video, you know?😅 Not a rock artist, but he's got some great, unforgettable Songs and his lyrics are always amazing. Plus he's hilarious if you ever saw him in an interview or on stage too.

Yeah its just a huge Robbie Williams gig, he did the gig over 3 days to 375,000 people. I remember it being shown on Sky 1 (the tv channel) at the time. So the audience probably got told they was recording the show to fire em up even more. The place does get used for festivals mostly though.

This was RW at the height of his solo career. Not one single person in that crowd needed to be fired up with anything else but him on that stage. Robbie was most definately not the best of singers in the business, but he was a magnificent entertainer.

Oh wow 🤩 8,2 for an early Robbie Williams 🎉 Thanks for that. Robbie is mostly known in Europe, you're not the first American who never heard of him. That's exactly why he moved to USA. To be able to get outside without being harassed by fans. This crowd was there only for him! He filled that lawn three nights in a row. He's a real entertainer, crowd controller pure sang. Hope you'll get more of him on your list. Not the best vocalist but the interaction with the crowd is amazing! Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 💝

Late to the review - Robbie Williams is a lad, as in a typical British lad. The type of guy you want on your side in a fight, women love the chat up from him, he is kind of like a modern day Dean Martin, except cocky and tounge and cheek. He had his foes, which is why the crowd is huge. Oasis, the indie band 'Wonderwall' had done a concert at Knebworth, which was hailed one of the biggest concerts in the UK for bodies. Robbie decided he would do one better. That is why the crowd is massive. All his songs contain sarcasm. The video for this song features him dressed like Kiss. The young boy in the crowd wasn't dressed as Gene Simmons, but Robbie. In this song, he is singing about how hard a career path is that performers are willing to sacrifice health and relationships to get to where they are. And as they are entertainers, everything and anything they do, you lap up. Even copy. I would recommend anything by Robbie, but you need to understand his sarcasm and humour, and sometimes seriousness.

Robbie is a great entertainer, didn’t bring down the Berlin Wall like I did though 😉 Also to add context he has sold like 80 million albums back when people actually bought albums, he was probably second to spice girls in terms of 90s pop fame in uk and aus/nz. I guess the US version would be Justin Timberlake but I would say outside of states Robbie is a bigger household name

What you could also do is to react to Robbie's black and white video of this song. And that may also explain why the boy was made up like a member of Kiss at the beginning. Also, Robbie sings the whole song in the video.

"Live at Knebworth, also known as Live Summer 2003 with different cover text, is a live album by English pop singer Robbie Williams, recorded and released in 2003. The album is his first live album, and is a compilation of songs performed during three consecutive shows at Knebworth, England on 1-3 August 2003. The three shows attracted a total of 375,000 fans, becoming the "biggest music event in British history". It is the second fastest and biggest selling live album ever in the United Kingdom behind Williams' former band Take That's live album The Greatest Day - Take That Present: The Circus Live. It has been certified 2× Platinum by the IFPI for sales over 2 million copies." - Wikipedia

That‘s always funny. Robbie Williams, formerly part of super-popular boyband Take That, is a top-tier mega-superstar in Europe. And in America nobody has ever heard of him. There is a story around that his American girlfriend did not believe him when he told her he is a popstar… until she accompanied him to Europe. 😂

Robbie Williams was MASSIVE, and I mean he was all over mainstream radio, number 1 singles and albums, doing duets with the likes of Madonna and Kylie Minogue etc from about the mid 90s til the late 00s. He's not as popular as he was at his peak anymore but could still easily sell out arena's and stadiums in the UK. From what I know he's meant to be super popular in Latin America as well. I'm not his biggest fan personally but he does have a few good tunes like this one.

That kid was a trillion times cooler than Gene Simmons could ever hope to be - he's mimicking Robbie Williams's portrayal of a 'Joker' type figure in the original music video from the song (not the appallingly naff Kiss, who are one of the worst rock bands to have ever existed). Also, this wasn't a festival, it was a one man show, performed at the legendary Knebworth over three nights in front of 150,000 fans each night. As for the demographics of his fans - and I have to discount myself as I was never into 'boy bands' and a bit too old to be into pop at the time - you'll find it's a very mixed crowd. And while it might be true that many young woman aren't into heavy metal, many metal fans are teenage boys who wouldn't know a good tune if it smacked them across the face. Robbie Williams was undoubtedly a hugely talented guy and a brilliant performer, who overcame his stagefright and depression to deliver some amazing songs, most of which he wrote himself. He's still performing today and he's a British icon. My hat goes off to the guy.

You’ve never heard of him because you’re American. No disrespect, but most Americans are pretty unaware of anything outside their own little bubble. He was, in fact still is, HUGE all over the world (barring America, which is their loss). The guy is the ultimate entertainer, can lend his voice to pretty much ANY genre of music, and pretty much every song he’s ever released tells a story. As a solo performer, I’d put him up there with anything the Americans have ever produced.

Great honest reaction as usual. Brings back memories to me. Also not my cup of tea, but saw the same show in Amsterdam 20 years ago with my then girlfriend now wife. The live performance part was fantastic. My wife being from Asia and never been in a huge stadium didn’t no where to look and what to do. The start of the show hanging upside down (Antichrist) was the same and when the music started she started dancing and jumping till see saw how high up see was in the stadium and how steep and not seeing any high fences the panic started. Rest of the show hanging on to her seat. It wasn’t a nice way for me to found her fear of heights. She still loved the show never the less. Following concerts only with field tickets 😉but being only 5 foot not easy to see something of the podium/show in the ‘country of the giants’ the Netherlands. Luckily my kids like live music same as daddy, so after the C period, I go with them or they go with me 😀

I listen to all gentes, honestly all genres. Scandinavian metal, pop, soul, R&B, rap, country, all of it. Robbie was in a boy band (Take That) which is probably the one genre I listen to the least. But Robbie covers so many bases for me. This is not close to any of his best songs, this song is the “hype” song. The rest of this concert really shows what he does, and there is some great songwriting. Come Undone is my favorite but Feel is probably his best song (along with Angels). I have a Robbie playlist and this song isn’t on it. It’s the “hype” song as I said before but it doesn’t really hold up on its own, out of context

Anyone can say what they will about Robbie, but honestly when he says "let me entertain you" he will fucking proceed to entertain you. Love this guy even though not my genre in the slightest lol

David, I never expected to see "Robbieieie" (I write it in that way, because most of the girls in my class really always said it in this way, when a song of him came up) on your channel. And well, I was one of the weird girls who liked already Rock, Hard Rock and "Neu Deutsche Härte", by the age of 16, that for I mixed always the members and songs from the so called "boy bands" up. 😂 Seems like I always was a bit "different". Of course I know Robbies songs, because in Europe there was no escape from him. The editing part I can confirm 100%, the music part is all yours. Thanks for the reaction and enjoy the rest of the weekend. ❤

I had a ticket for the third night of Robbie's Knebworth gigs - I found out I was pregnant a couple of weeks before and my family thought it would be unsafe - so my friend took her neighbour instead. I had to just buy the DVD 😆. My son was born the following year and he''s a lead guitarist in a rock band at uni

Knebworth is not a festival it’s a Village in England and the boy’s make up is that of Robbie from the video of the same name, not Gene Simmons

that is not even a festival. That is his solo concert :D RW was Taylor Swift and Harry Styles combined before them in 2000s. He was the biggest pop star apparently everywhere in entire world except for US.

Robbie Williams is an ex member of the boy band Take That, he has recorded/written some really good songs. This is pretty much a solo concert, there may have been a couple of support bands. He was not the best singer in TT but he was far more rock orientated than the rest of TT. He did put on a good show to be fair.

Williams was massive in late 90s to early 2000s. The guy was more or less kicked out or left Take That... So a drug problem which was already escalating got quite worse. Not quite sure how he got the chance to release some material, but i guess he ran out of money?? At least i know he was doing drugs in "Freedom", quite possibly "old before i die" too. I believe he with a little help of some friends and family, managed to become sober. His absolutely biggest hit? I guess "Angels", which is more of a ballad. Though i'm more a rock/prog/metalhead, i'm a sucker for good pop-music. So it became a brainworm... Maybe something for Mrs. Heretic?

I've never been a fan of robbie, but dude has been around since the 90s, he is huge in Europe. I got respect for the guy . Now to add another group you never heard of.... New Model Army . You being a bass player will love them. Lots of the songs are bass line driven. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

One of the reasons Robbie never really hit it big in the U.S. is he rarely if not ever performed here in the U.S. It sort of like actor David Hasselhoft back in the day when he became a massive singer in Europe but could not sell one record or ticket here in his home which is USA

This is not a festival. This was Robbie on his own. This concert is the biggest and fastest selling concert in UK history and he was the biggest selling artist on the planet in the early 2000's. A true superstar who was tormented by his own demons. The fact you have never heard of him just makes me realise just how isolated people in the US really are. He also holds the record for the most solo albums at number 1 in the UK with 14, beating Elvis who has 13.

He didn't say that. He said that most young females from 16 to 28 are not into Rock/Metal, which is totally true. That doesn't mean there aren't a lot af females into rock.

@@clivematthews5296 I get it. But Dave just basically said, that most young females prefer listening to other stuff. Of course you can't tell from the amount of females in the crowd what type of music the concert is about. But nonetheless, if you have 90% teenage girls in a crowd it is rather unlikely to expect a metal concert ;)

Not a festival. A three day sold out and then some Record breaking Concerts. He is an unfiltered force of nature. The Robbie Williams phenomena is world wide. It is Everywhere. Everywhere that is, except America. In many ways America is always playing catch up to many Trends and Fads And this Video "song" is an intro to every concert. So, it's not really a song per se. More like it's a melodic adrenaline shot for the crowd's to get juiced up on.
