I don’t know why Robbie cops criticism, maybe jealousy? I mean he has sold 75 million albums and between his solo career and Take That is the 3rd most successful UK artist in history behind Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Now that’s something. One of my favourite songs of his is “Advertising Space”

He has got critism because he started in boy band, and his Alter ego looks arrogant this combined with huge fame some people don't like it, but ironically Robbie is one of the most humble person in music industry

For more than 10 years he has been the King of Pop in the UK, he's a powerhouse, he has delivered hit after hit. He's so talented and versatile with a great sense of humor. My favourite: Supreme, Feel, Better Man, The Road to Mandalay, Tripping, Radio, Rock DJ of course! So many!! You should definitely do a Part 2!!

The strings on "Millenium" are actually a sample from the James Bond song "You Only Live Twice" from 1967 (sung by Nancy Sinatra). Hence the James Bond look in the video.

Definitely do a part two, Robbie has so many great songs, and yes he is a bit of a cheeky chappie!!! I don't know for sure but I'm certain it was a stunt double for the ice skating scenes in the video. He might skate but not like that!!! You also need to react to him at Knebworth. When you see the size of the crowds there you will understand how big he was here in the UK. He now lives in LA and I think he's said that he loves it there because he can walk down the street without being recognised!!! It surprised me that he never made it big, or even to a moderate level of success in the States, but I guess his time came and went, and the record label execs didn't think it would work. I think he'd have done ok.

I know he tried a few times around the angels/millennium era and again with the escapology era, but I don't think we could handle it tbh, the US has always been pretty judgemental to new music. I think that is starting to change with the internet and tik tok but growing up as an American fan of British pop, when I would play this stuff to my friends they would judge me and call me weird. It's sad as we missed out on a lot of good stuff.
@mattpotter8725
@mattpotter8725 2 жыл бұрын
@@hipstersinspacee I know what you're saying and I don't disagree but I think a lot of marketing and effort going around the country promoting was needed back then and even then it doesn't always work. I do think you needed to be in the radio a lot over there as a foreign artist, maybe a couple of really big hits to get a following and even then it wasn't always guaranteed to be that big or even last.

This guy came from nothing as his album RudeBox states in the tracks The 80s and the 90s - from Take That to absolute stardom. Look at him now, several places in the Guiness Book of World Records! A stunning wife in Ayda and four gorgeous children, and he's still as humble and thankful for where he is today - he's a cheeky tinker yep, but a gracious and adorable bloke who is happy and content with where he's been and where he is now - he's just (as we say in Wales ) bloody lush!!!!

Context: Robbie Williams started out in a boy band in the UK in the 90’s called Take That. They tended to push him in the background a lot and he felt he had more to offer so he left the group and started his solo career. He then signed a record breaking multi album deal with Sony (I think it was) as a young man I envied his good looks and success as an older man I have a deeper appreciation of his art. He always followed his own path. Recommendations? There’s so many to choose from. Rudebox is a great album with some great Pet Shop Boys collaboration. Dance Like A Russian is one of my favourite later songs of his too. One more thing - the strings you liked from Millenium is a sample from “You Only Live Twice” by Nancy Sinatra. Thank you for the great content. I love your channel and Happy New Year ❤️🍾💐

Such a charmer and player. You’d never guess he has stage fright, anxiety and battles demons. Hope you do more RW reactions. I def recomend some live concerts. He also did an amazing concert at Royal Albert Hall with what he called swing music. It was his tribute to classical heroes such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davies jr. Really different obviously but so good. Also, he sang She’s the one with the 1D boys on X Factor 2010. 🤩

From the interviews and such that I have seen of Robbie you can certainly say the man has a wicked sense of humour (which frequently can get him into trouble - especially with his wife) - whether it is going out to a bar for a drink wearing the muscle suit from Rock DJ or describing seeing the birth of his first child as "Like watching your favourite pub burn down" (yes he was supposedly in trouble with the Mrs for that one). There is a 20 min video on YT on the making of Rock DJ if you want to see that?

I just turned 15 and it was a big thing to change from 1999 to 2000... but then... we realised that it is not that the world changed for the best from a year to another... I remember the day the Rock DJ video premiered, I happened to be watching MTV. They showed a short "Making of the video/interview with Robbie" and then played the full music video... and that was the last time anyone saw it before 9pm on TV hahahaha. It was so controversial and had so many complaints. MTV would play the MV but fade out and stop just as he was pulling down his underwear. Crazy! Most of my friends in school never saw the full thing.

Such a fun homage to Bond in the Millennium video - the strings are sampled from a famous Bond movie theme.

Robbie can skate (the home video bits are of him as a kid), so most of the skating and the easier stunts (and the wirework) is all him, but the advanced stunts, particularly the jumps, are done by a number of professional skaters (the routine you see has a couple of jumps that would be a challenging for an Olympic champion). Obviously they had multiple takes, but, short of hiring an Olympian, they had to piece it together with multiple doubles each doing the pieces they could do.

You have to do more and if you want pushing the boundaries you have to do his song, Come uUndone. Do you have to be careful though US has edited some of it so it’s probably better off the record version. I love him he is self deprecating his songs are biographical and just fun.Best part is he’s aged he’s writing songs or singing songs about his kids as well.

Been a fan of Robbie since ... 2005? I think? People think he's this overconfident, megalomaniac superstar when he's on stage (see: his performance at Knebworth), but he's actually been very open about suffering from anxiety and agoraphobia. It's one of the reasons why I love him. During his imperial phase (which you've picked the right videos of) he was unstoppable in the UK and Europe. I'm surprised blockbuster movies haven't yet been made about his overly complicated relationship with the Take That boys. As for the videos, I think you've picked the right four. A future part 2 should definitely feature Come Undone, No Regrets, Radio (for the eye-candy) and Candy (his most recent hit).

She's the one, (the ice dancing video) is an almost note for note cover of the World Party original. it's even played by mostly the same musicians. Chris Sharrock (Robbie's drummer at the time was in World Party and Guy Chambers was in the Waterboys along with Karl. however it's a good outcome, as Karl had suffered a brain aneurysm, and had to learn to talk and walk again. The royalties from Robbie's no 1 hit helped massively.
