Robbie once said that backup singers are the *really* good singers. The voice alone doesn't make the pop star and I agree. Rob is a good example, because in my opinion, while he's an alright singer, he's mostly an entertainer. When I go to a RW show, I don't expect him to sing every note beautifully or hold notes for long. He sings the way he wants, which isn't a bad thing because he obviously has a lot of stage presence and charisma and he makes up for it with that. I even argue that Rob isn't even the best singer in Take That. While he's able to sing different genres (pop, rock, swing, dance), Gary Barlow was always the one who was technically better and able to sing harmonies as well. Both have distinctive voices though.
