I was 100% that guy that could throw the big shot then still not get the bird. I spent all of my skill points at the beginning on distance and just kept training that skill until I got over 400'. Once I finally started spending more time grinding putting it felt like the levels had SO MUCH XP between them and took forever. Could have passively trained it for some slow rates to make a better push earlier and be a more rounded character but oh well. Glass cannon is a fun starting build but turning more into a main now and loving it even more.

Nice to hear that as someone who has gotten 3-4 last place finishes in MA1 almost purely from putting mistakes in the tournament setting … 450 distance isn’t worth much if you can’t clean it up.. decided to drop down to MA2 because of it

I highly doubt they’ll add a re-spec option to the sport anytime soon, so videos for beginners like these are super important - to make sure player retention and experience improves for disc golf everywhere. I am only 6 weeks into my current ( and only ) build and going for midrange and approach levels early on is making the early game way more enjoyable. The arm speed and distance stats are a little too hyped up imo.

This may be the best putting tip ever. There are times when my putt just isn’t there(like right now)and simply finding the weight of the disc in my hand brought back consistency. Thank you sir

Robbie, I have always been a spin putter because I never understood how push putting worked. You just gave the best explanation on how to push putt I have ever found on the internet. Thank you!

I use a spin put with direct approach. But if it's off, it's way off. I always dry run my flic of my wrist and it seems to help. Your video has been helpful.

Hey Robbie man, I just wanted to say thanks, like a HUGE thanks, for what you do. I seriously learn A LOT from your videos, and I have learned almost all of what I understand just from your teaching videos. You have a good teaching style. I appreciate who you are and what you do man. I'm a Robbie C fan for life.

This is a really great verbalization of techniques I use to help with consistency. I have a routine where I make a few quick small rotations of the disc more or less just tossing it up a bit each time feeling where the weight is centered. It's important at this point that I feel the grip on each point of contact with the disc to ensure that it will not stick to or slide from my hand in an unexpected way. I always like to line my arm up and feel the upcoming motion giving one to three practice swings in a pendulum motion towards the basket. I like to visualize that the only direction the disc can go is on the same path of the pendulum motion, which is almost always the case. Visualizing making the putt is one of the most important aspects of putting in my opinion. Over time I've noticed that my make percentage is much higher when I "know" the putt is going in before I throw it and that any amount of doubt I have when lining up my putt will dramatically lower my make percentage. Confidence is key and practice is the best way to form a solid foundation of confidence. Keep sharing the knowledge and growing the sport!

Robbie, I have always been a spin putter, but always sucked at it. I just never learned the right way. This just changed my putting game forever. I went from 20% C1X to about 80% C1X in 1 hour. You rock. Thank you so much for your tips.

Still not as good at putting as I'd like but I had a big breakthrough in making more of my putts and having more confidence when I heard something Isaac Robinson said at a clinic. Someone asked him about why he doesn't seem to really have a long routine and he said he did, but he mostly does it before he gets up to his lie. That was big, and the other piece was equating it to shooting basketball free throws. When I would do longer routines for that I wasn't as consistent and it was because it was so different from any other time I'd shoot the ball, so I would dribble once and shoot. Got to be a pretty good 85 plus percent free throw shooter back in the day. Fast forward to putting, and that's what I do now. I have factored distance, basket height, wind, etc., before I step up so that all I do is step up to my lie, do the same little spin of the disc in my off hand and loosen my shoulders/arms, and putt like I'm spinning it to a buddy on the other side of the basket. Less stress, more confidence.

totally nailed it. Hitting C1 and C2 in regulation Tee to Green and then missing putts has to be, by far, the most frustrating part of GOLF. You have said this repeatedly...start at the basket and work your way to the tee pad. We win the hole on the green. Start developing this part of the game first. Mental is key; second is instinct: the body kinda knows how to put the bisket in the basket if we get out of the way. Robbie's big question: How do we develop this instinict? Answer: by feeling the weight of the disc. Interesting.

In my 1st tournament, I actually at one point said in my head "Here you go [Insert your friends name here]" and threw the disc to the basket envisioning it was my mate 'X', no thinking about the shot, just looking at the basket and letting lizard brain calculate the weight and trajectory... It was really an upshot, not a putt... it didn't go in... but fell just beyond within drop in reach... I did it because it was at a distance I often go long/short/ right... Instead it almost went in (so I had a shot) and didn't result in another unguaranteed putt. By the way. How many here, after taking up Disc Golf, have become soooo much better at throwing trash in the bin etc... Your back to those days as a kid, feeling the weight of that stone, lobbing it into the water etc and hitting that stick etc without even trying... Feel the weight.

I use a similar visualization in ball golf for greenside bunker shots. You can imagine the "feel" of under handing a golf ball to the pin giving you the basic feel that you need to swing the club. Finding this feel is a really important concept.

Really great tip here Robbie, I'ma try it out! I've been trying to incorporate more of a push putt into my own spush putt form, since I was pulling my putts right a lot, but now I have a new problem where I sky a lot of putts. Maybe I'm releasing too high/late, or getting the nose up on the way up with this new motion. Any tips on keeping the disc flat and release point?

Great video. Lots of nuggets, but the start/ending position on the fingers was a lightbulb for me. You mentioned several times on here that you do putting lessons, is there somewhere people can go to find out how it may be possible to see if that’s something that may be a fit?

Garbage information... Grip as hard as you can people. No ones gonna power grip a putt. And its ok to hyzer putt. What you should do is put the putter in the palm, extend fingers, and grip hard.

This is the most stoner disc golf video I have ever seen, are there ways to improve your putting, of course, best thing I can tell you is to A. Stop trying to focus on how everyone else does it. B. Practice and find what works for you and practice more

Like all your other videos I've seen but You couldn't be more wrong here. Your wrist makes that motion doing almost everything sports using your hands. There is no such thing as a "push putt." Spin equals stability period. That circle ain't going no where you want without spin. Knuckleball does crazy shit because it's not spinning. The ridiculousness that disc golf is some unique thing with motions only done there is why people sucked for so long and now the scores are going super low and they making putts from 40+ all day. It's exactly like all other sports. Slingshots for everyone..
