DEEP CLEANING the ABANDONED Genesis for the First Time - EVER!

Deep Cleaning an abandoned Hyundai Genesis Coupe that we bought for $1,000 off the side of the road... what could go wrong!? Honestly... a lot more could have! It was moldy, but could have been way worse! Check out some of my favourite products below, without those I don't think we could have restored the life back into this car they way we did!

To get the best results with the ozone, run the car with max heat and recirulation so it releases the smells inside the fabrics. If the smell in the headliner still isnt gone, buy an interior cleaner and just spray it on the headliner and try to brush it into the fabric with a towel. Im a detailer at a dealership and thats what we do

Why wouldn't you use a deodorizer like the one by fair air. Works much faster and requires no effort.

Using liquid cleaners on headliners often can loosen the adhesive that holds it up creating bubbles and hanging. Idk a better way tho so I apply to the brush scrub lightly and dry by patting it with a microfiber

100% the energy you give when you're doing this stuff is so much better than when you were trying to be something else. When I cleaned the smoke out of the headliner in my 323, I removed it just like you did the carpet, but no power wash, just oxy clean and shopvac. I think I rinsed with water too, but it was some time ago.

The water in the trunk is probably coming from the taillights I had the same problem the foam behind the lights is supposed to stop water from coming in but doesn't always do that

You kind of hit it there at the end, a good quality multi attachment steam cleaner is very effective for those tight area and it is also good at cleaning headliners. Don't forget to do cabin filter, they get overlooked and you can put smell right back into the car not replacing and cleaning the area. Really, good work cleaning this up.

Pressure wash the seats. That’s what I used to do at the dealer I worked at. Takes about 4-5 days to dry in Arizona sun but they come out brand new. I’ve even taken carpet out of f150 and pressure washing it

Robbie have you ever tried using Iron-Out to attack rust stains? It’s a powder you can buy and it’s supposed to go in water softeners to remove iron. But you can use it on clothes or fabrics to get out iron stains sometimes too! I get the fabric wet, dust it on, scrub it into a paste and let it soak, usually does a great job

Heck yeah! Love the videos just get a fabric cleaner and spray on a clean rag and scrub the headliner, don’t get it too wet or you’ll risk the adhesive falling

Sprayway or similar glass cleaner in the aerosol can actually works really well on headliners. Use a microfiber cloth and gently clean it as needed. Car is looking way better than I expected given the circumstances, I’m very impressed 🤘🏼

For the trunk, the gen coupes have awful tail light gaskets. A company called atq sells upgraded OEM style ones or if you wanna go the super cheap route: clear rtv silicone or duct tape at the tail light seals. When there's water in the trunk, it'll splash up and go under the back seat & back of the carpet. I had to strip the entire rear of the interior of my '13 coupe to fix it Also check for water under the plastic tool tray things to the sides of the trunk. Under those is deep bucket things that are just the chassis itself.

Definitely clean the headliner…being a smokers car it is uniformly dirty. You can use an upholstery / carpet cleaner on a microfiber towel…keep the cleaner fairly light and scrub pressure light to avoid any sag from the headliner down the road.

Great work. My paranoid self would have finished everything off with a hefty amount of disinfect spray. Probably would spray everything down with 4 bottles of Lysol lol
