So true about just doing it yourself. Being a mechanic myself, all the people that believe if you go to school and do all the paperwork to get (certified) to be a mechanic, you will have many mess ups and most will not even hire you because you don't have the hands on experience. Good job, get in it, get your hands dirty and learn. For all the people that doubt him, you will never get anywhere in life or have the satisfaction relying on others to do your work. Keep it man 🖒🖒🖒🖒

I'm glad you guys are just jumping into the build and learning that way, as thats how I learned a lot of what I know today. One suggestion would be to put the air intake filter further away from the exhaust manifold, because if its too close there will be a crazy amount of heat soak and that will kill you power gains. I would also suggest wrapping the exhaust manifold in head wrap and getting a turbo blanket

100% run a filter. Keep in kind that the compressor wheel is spinning in the 200,000rpm range so even a grain of sand is like a bullet. I've pulled apart turbos which looks like they had wrenches shoved down them simply because people didnt run filters. Also make sure that the small oil inlet is on top and the large oil outlet is on the bottom. When inside the turbo the oil is almost a vapor so it is very important to allow it to essentially drop out of the bearing body.
@MBZXZ6 жыл бұрын

I'm not surpised you guys had so many problems with this turbo kit. CX racing is just the worst company. None of they're stuff works how it's supposed to and then they're rude about it when you ask them for help. You're better off with no name brands from ebay
@henrymca6 жыл бұрын
Their products are just rebrands no name parts, just like those cheap ebay turbo kits only difference is they have a name and "customer service "
@lsedanolg6 жыл бұрын
How old are you now? 22?
@zacharyballew43206 жыл бұрын
I'd say calling them the worst is a bit of a stretch, rude customer service happens at millions of shops/parts companies and its the employee rather then the company, and also clocking a turbo isn't a problem its what you do with whatever setup you are running. The problem I would have had is with no hardware( which unfortunately does happen on occasion to people ). When you spend $500-$1000ish on a complete kit that from most other quality companies would cost you $2000-$4000+. I'd say a little massaging should be expected with minimal complaints considering the money you are choosing to not spend on Quality.
@gradof6b6 жыл бұрын
I will admit that I am biased due to my personal experience with them, long story short I needed a new cartridge for my coilovers, it took them 2 months of ducking my calls after I paid for the replacement to finally ship it out, only to send me the wrong thing, 2 more months to send me the same wrong thing, the 3 months to finally fix to problem. All the while telling me I didn't know what I had on my car and that it was my fault it was wrong even though I went as far as to the tell them the size and pitch of the shock I had as well as multiple pictures, and the worst part is the shock that finally fit is almost as bad as the blown one was. So whenever I see mention of them I'm immediately annoyed.
@zacharyballew43206 жыл бұрын
Yeah that does happen and I have dealt with similar issues with build quality on a replacement strut from Truhart(spring seat was visibly welded on crooked). As a company though most are usually obligated to say the whole "your wrong" or "are you sure its bad" or "are you positive of the parts you ordered" or "did you install it correctly" type deal because unless a shop or professional installed your parts they really could tell you to kick rocks unless you are persistent and keep on them about it being the part then you can get lucky and get it replaced . It sucks to deal with A-holes but there are ways around some issues obviously but usually if you do your own work watch out for quality over cost.

Best place to get your oil feed from would be to T into the oil pressure switch above the oil filter. Just put a T in the block and hook the feed line to one and the oil pressure switch into the other one. And boom oil. Also make sure you have the oil lines clocked correctly on the turbo they should be straight up and down if possible but no more than 15 degrees angled or else youll starve the turbo of oil. But nice build you guys got going! Keep up the great work.

You might wanna make the intake piping longer and have the air filter on the left side of the engine bay, as far away as possible from the hot manifold and turbo. So your engine intakes cooler air and there for can make more power and not heat soak as fast. Latter down the line you can even heat wrap your manifold and turbo to make your engine bay cooler altogether. And watch out for wires or any part that can melt, since the turbo does get very hot.
@TheCruiz126 жыл бұрын

Hey, awesome work. There is no better way to learning than doing it one self. Just a recommendation...put some rubber grommets between the aluminum inter cooler and the steel core supports and brackets. I’ve seen and heard of too many inter coolers breaking at the mounts because they were hard-mounted. Having the little bit of rubber grommet will allow the inter cooler to shake less (at a different rate and severity) than the rest of the car, safeguarding your mounts. Really, go the safe route. Anyway, good luck and I’m still watching. Great series...and from a local no less!!
