You can use carp as bait in NSW. However, its use is highly regulated. You can only use dead carp when fishing in freshwater bodies. These rules are put in place to protect the environment and fish populations in the region.

I tried fishing for Redclaw in the Nambiodia river at Emerald using meat and canned catfood with limited success. A local told me to use Sunlight soap in the net and when I did the net was full. I kid you not. Try using a bar of pure soap in one of your nets.
