As someone that has historically hated trains due to a weekly Norwich-London commute, I was blown away by just how lovely the train network was through Austria, Germany, France etc. Definitely going to look into heading to Spain via train now after seeing this.

I came the other way back last year, Seville to Barcelona, Barcelona to Paris, Paris to London, across London on the tube then Liverpool Street to Norwich then taxi back to NR7 - it was magic, I did splurge and go first class all the way. But would I do it again, most definitely 😀

Yeah, I’m not really sure how I’d work out the average price. If you book far enough in advance you can get the cheap fares. For example most days in January have £39 tickets. It was just easier to put in the lowest prices as they vary so much.

Are you getting the trains back, just with Children id be tempted to fly one way and train the other, so its educational but doing the trains both ways would just be repetitive and a long haul.

Last time I traveled on train in England..the reserved seats had paper reserved slips on the headrests...what a logistical nightmare for staff to deal with. Here in Europe it's not a thing! Even before smart phones they were never used. Pull your finger out UK!

I'm suprised people like the french trains in the comments, I have never met a single french resident who likes them. They are never on time, the prices are outrageous, the budget cuts are terrible, the routes aren't all that logical and i can bang on and on all day. I have no idea how he got from paris to the south on 35e when 35e is what you would pay to do 100 sad kilometers in a tgv or ter, if it doesn't get cancelled that is.
