Once the cover is removed, you can shake the battery out facing down (tap it on a surface).

How did you know that it was the battery on the key fab that died? And that it wasn’t another problem. I’m asking because mine died on my 2019 A220, and I’m a little concerned about driving it. But Mercedes says it’ll take a week at least before they can fix it

​@@bntelenniss I knew it was the battery when the key fob wouldn't lock or unlock my car doors. It's easy to replace the battery yourself by following the instructions in the video. You can buy replacement batteries on Amazon (they're inexpensive). If you're not up to the task then take your car to the dealer and ask them to put new batteries in your key fob. You should have two key fobs so remember to replace the batteries in both of them.

Don't worry, a new battery in your Key FOB will probably solve the problem.

Thanks much. Other video's show that with the all black, or chrome edged key, to remove the 'mechanical' key, then use that key to push to the side/slide lock tab to the side. Mine would not do that, no internal tab to slide over. Then I found this great video, shows to push down into the depth of the key, then I was able to finally open mine. Why would MB change the black & chrome edge keys from a slide over tab, to a push down tab? Wonder how many have broken their key parts in frustration not knowing there are 2 different types? Something else strange, I have 2 fob keys, one is all black and contains two 2025 batteries, and the other has the chrome edges but only contains one 2025 battery. Why would they do this? Why 2 batteries for the black one, and one battery for the chrome edged key? Thanks for your video, it saved me frustration trying to slide over a tab that other video's show that mine doesn't have, mine is a push in like your video shows, thank you!

The 2032 is slightly thicker than the 2025. 2025 is best to use but the 2032 certainly will work in a pinch

Was great that the video was short, but on difficult parts like your describing (where I had the same issue, and still don’t have the back portion taken off). He should have slowed down and given a better direction that just pop this in right about here. What do you mean pop this in right about here? Is there a different tool I can use instead of thinking im going to damage my key? Does the key fit properly into a certain area? Are you supposed to be hitting something that allows it to pop out?
