"9-20-03
In honor of Mr. Robbin Crosby.
The recording was done in late 1999 at The Cellar. Unfortunately, it became the last recording Robbin Crosby performed on. It is my honor to present this clip to you on Robbins behalf. He is playing a solo on a record called The River-The Life, by a band called Air Pavillion. We are in the control room and his amps are in the studio room. This is the original "first take," he only did one take. This is the performance on the record, as recorded in real time. Ironically, the song is called The Canyon (The River Of Dreams). If you listen carefully, you can hear him switching pick ups and the sound in the control room as we did it. This record also features Kelly Hansen, on lead vocals, Tom Croucier, on bass, Jay Shellen on drums and Tak Yonemochi on guitars.
Special thanks goes out to: Tak Yonemochi for the footage. I gave him a hard time for taping this session, but now I'm glad he did.
Juan"
This solo appears at the end of the song "The Canyon (The River of Dreams)" on the album "The River/The Life" by Air Pavilion.

I won a contest wo meet Ratt when I was 13 years old. Robbin was the only band member kind enough to show up. Really nice guy and actually pretty quiet. When I asked him where the other guys were, he said still "getting ready." I will always remember him for being nice enough to walk down a hallway in the colliseum and meet his fans for 20 minutes...something the other guys weren't willing to do. RIP King

I used to play drums with Robbin in 1992-94. The name of the band was Secret Service. Mark Lewis on gtr. Krys Barratto on bass and Perry McCarty on vocals. Killer times man, and YES Robbin had amazing feel/ chops. He was a friend of mine till the end and a very nice guy. I miss him.

Love it! I went to Guitar Trader in San Diego to buy a combo amp. Was looking at a Marshall. Robbin was there that day and saw that I wasn't sure on the Marshall. He asked If I'd heard the new Peavey Custom 50/50. He proceeded to plug one in and started jamming on it. Showing me the tonal possibilities. Keep in mind, he was just hanging out there that day. I don't think he was working there or anything. Nonetheless, he totally sold me on that amp and I bought it that day. I still have that amp to this day. This was in the late 90s If I remember correctly. Anyway, I'll never forget that day and I keep that amp as a reminder of how he gave his time to help me out that day. I also remember how huge his hands were. When we shook hands I felt like I was ten times smaller. LOL. Just a great and talented guy.

He was my guitarhero back in the day and most of the time (when you go to concerts) if you act normal and know your way around the venue meeting you can meet many bands. I always wanted to meet him and Warren so I was quite sad when I heard he passed way back in '02. It sometimes disgust me how people call him a bad guitarplayer or a junky.. the kinda people who couldn't walk a mile in his shoes. Luckily there are stories out there from people like you who proove the opposite is true. Again great story and keep rocking that amp! Cheers \w/

An amazing, kind hearted and humble man with incredible talent. They abandoned him in his hour of need. Wouldn’t even see him in the care home. Just knowing someone cares about you enough to come and spend some time with you can mean the world to someone, and can even help with recovery. I know how tearfully lonely it can be being in hospital when your loved ones aren’t there. Being in a care home I imagine is similar. I know who the real rats are in this story. RiP the King. ❤

@SabuPtolemy No I didn't. I don't listen too much of the old groups new music. Kind of like Def Leppards new stuff stinks, Van Halen's new stuff stinks. Metallica, Megadeth and Iron Maiden seem okay? Not as good as 40 years ago, but too be expected when you get old. I think most of the 80's groups have lost their edge. I'll definitely check it out though! I'm up for some old 80's groups sounding like they did back then. Thanks.

I watched a video of Gary Richrath the former guitarist of REO Speedwagon playing "Roll With Changes " in 2014 shortly prior to his death. His appearance had changed quite a lot too. Reminded me of the Robbin Crosby thing with RATT. Two principle songwriters and guitarists of their respective band who where kicked out. Neither of those 2 bands where the same after.

Love this solo! He was definitely underrated and was a great guitar player. He might not have been the flashiest or the fastest but that doesn't mean jack. Sure, fast playing is impressive, and it catches the eye, but a nice, tasty solo with a few little fast runs mixed in always wins the prize.

I'm not just saying this because most of us are now past our prime but the 80s/90s metal was so much better. So many words about what a humble soul Robbin Crosby was. He was respected in much the same vain as Steve Clark of Def Leppard. Both fought some massive demons. Addiction is a bitch, and the legacy these men left carries a reminder for all of us that you can have everything you ever dreamed of and your addiction will take it all away from you. Robbin was quoted as saying he lived the life of a thousand men, and that his loved ones should not cry for him in the wake of his death. Prolific and positive words for a man who knew he lived to excess. RIP, King.

After the Crue performed we were just bullshitting about guitars and women for a little bit and that was it . Ran into him one other time in Fullerton California when he was performing with Ratt at Billy Bartys Roller Rink . Must have been only around 150 people there . Saw Ratt perform along with about 3 other bands back to back for around $10 dollars . Also met the famous midget Billy Barty same day .
