I met Bobby a few years back. Of all places, it was at a desert hot spring. I was with my group of friends, he was with his fiancee and their friends. I didn't recognize him right away. We were all just hanging out at the springs and having a few beers. He and I got to talking.. told him about my days as a bouncer in a nightclub.. all the women, the bar fights, the after parties etc.. then he told me stories about playing clubs in the 80s and all the crazy shit that happened. We talked like old friends for a good half hour. Then I noticed the Ratt dog tag he was wearing. I complemented him for it, told him how much I liked Ratt in the 80s. Then he told me who he is. I was so blown away. He was super chill, respectful and cool. He told me a bit about his outlook on life.. he definitely seemed to appreciate the business aspect of being a rock star as much as having fun with it. Very well balanced. That's my experience with Bobby. I was very impressed

However, within days, Warren DeMartini spoke out against Blotzer using the name, as he owns half of the Ratt name as part of WBS, Inc., the company owned by him and Blotzer. Blotzer claimed he has the legal right to go on tour using the name, as DeMartini breached his fiduciary duty by refusing to tour under the Ratt name as a partner in the corporation. In October 2015, DeMartini sued Blotzer for falsely advertising his "tribute band" as the real thing. In November 2015, DeMartini's attempt to procure an injunction to prevent Blotzer from using and touring under the Ratt trademark was overturned, allowing Blotzer to tour using the name Ratt."

I have watched bands break up, burn down, Sue each other in court etc for more than four decades. Meanwhile the public is like, just give us the music we liked when you started this whole thing up. Give us the original band members the way we want it. The band's right to conduct their own business, is their business and not the listening public. However I think it becomes more about the band and less about the fans as the years go by. Pitiful but it happens to many of them. Meanwhile, all of the band members are exceptionally talented individuals appreciated by all of us... so much time and money is wasted by all of the bickering fighting and breakdowns. I can't help but think... What they could have accomplished if they just put their heads together and kept at it

All that 80's shit hair metal was just commercial pop rock, it wasn't real music. Madonna, new kids on the block and hair metal, all the same shit. They were the only generation of bands that were all in their 30's when we first saw them They were musicians that didnt make it in the 70's and should've gotten jobs by the 80's but MTV ( which ruined music and brought us hair metal and rap) needed something to show us on their new channel so we got stuck with untalented guys in their 30's singing to junior high schoolers. What a pathetic era, so embarrassed to have been there

The term "hair metal" never existed in the heyday, I'm pretty certian some grunge era music critic started that. Also, I wouldn't be able to figure out the difference between some of those 80's Metal bands so I always just called it Heavy Metal. Obviously, I realize the difference between Slayer & Pretty Boy Floyd but some of the bands crossed over at times. One thing I'm pretty sure about is, the back & forth bickering that used to give me a headache over which style of Metal was better made it easy to transition into what was a pretty boring decade that followed the 80's.

It sounds like Bobby Blotzer wants to be performing and touring, but the other members of RATT don't want to go through the 'grind' anymore. There's some recent Documentary videos here of KZbin, about Stephen Pearcy and the beginnings of RATT in San Diego. Pearcy looks very worn out. I think that RATT lost any possibility of being a band anymore when Robin Crosby died.

Met Warren and Bobby in NC after a show. Warren was awesome. Great guy. Took his time to talk and sign autographs and take pics. Bobby would not look at anyone, not talk to anyone and refused to sign or take pics. Wouldn’t walk across the street to see him or his crap version of “Ratt”.

I’ve seen RATT 12-13 times and this version of RATT is like the new Quiet Riot…👎 Without Stephen or Warren it’s not worth seeing. You can dog Stephens voice all you want but back in the days he was great! He is one of the nicest guys to meet, I got to hang with him with backstage when I was in my 20’s and later around 2010. There was no negative talking about anyone and we talked for at least an hour. I appreciate Blotzer trying to keep it alive but it just can’t be without some of the other guys.

I'm 53 and was lucky to be in my young prime in the 80s and of course I saw many, many concerts in SoCal, and the worst one I ever saw was Ratt at the Forum in either 85 or 86. Pearcy was absolutely awful and even though Ratt was one of my favorite bands, I just couldn't stand another song.... It was the only concert that I ever left early in my entire life. < All that being said, I still love me some Ratt.... "You take the midnight subway train, you're calling all the shots......... "

Seems like they were kind of like that. They were the second act in front of Motley Crue with Accept being the first band to hit the stage on City Island in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania when they first toured nationwide. They sounded really good and I was impressed. But I’ve heard them at different other times during the 80’s and one they would sound absolutely awful, next time great, another mediocre. I could never figure that out. I’d say the partying had a lot to do with it. When they were bad, the timing would be all off, Stephen would take liberties on the vocals and it would throw everything off. Like I said though when they were on, they were tight and I still like their stuff to this day.

The problem with being in a band is the miscues of who wants to work and who doesn't. Often the person that was once motivated has decided creative benefit is not worth the effort. I don't know where this comes from but the business side is a drag. It is a ton of work but in the end definitely worth the effort. We need more of the opportunity to become successful. With Covid dying a death that never should have been created, we will see new growth. I am glad Bobby sees that too.

RATT was started by Pearcy and Crosby, how did Blotzer end up owning part of the name with Warren?
@frankgonzalez1631
@frankgonzalez1631 3 жыл бұрын
To answer your question on that thought I believe there was a time where Stephen pearcy almost lost total ownership the trademark Ratt.. Bobby and Dee Warren jump into the picture saved it from being owned by music label.. so the story goes as Mr Stephen pearcy did something without the knowledge of the band..

Bobby did not get songwriting credit for any of the hits so he made a lot less money than Stephen and Warren. That’s why Bobby needed to tour.
