It's an interesting car; really, it is... In 1980, I saw one in Colorado that had been mounted to a 1970's Ford Bronco chassis ... 4X4 with a view. I have seen the AMC Pacer as well as their Gremlins with a Ford's 351/390ci, Chevy's 283/327ci, and Chrysler's 318/340ci engines squeezed into the engine compartment and Borg-Warner 4speed manual transmissions... Because in the last years of AMC they borrowed from Ford, Chrysler, and GM, on could get outrageously creative in creating a "sleeper" street machine in that era.

It was an interesting design, poorly executed mechanically. Reasonable aerodynamics for the era, and incredible visibility for not being a standard flat-top sedan format, it *could* have been an amazing car for the time. AMC Sourced a ton of parts from different manufacturers in the 70s. As you go through it maybe you can name who made what. You've found Ford Components, the ignition switch and keys are GM, the (anemic) 232 six is all AMC, but I believe the auto trans may be Chrysler torqueflite. You'll find this beast all over the map. A shame AMC died, in a way they were ahead of their time with the 4WD Eagles. Now look at the SUV all wheel drive types we have on the road today. PS. I did hear of a guy in the area that gutted a Pacer for his backyard terrarium.
