Tell hillbilly that even when burning pure hydrogen the result is still called steam. Smoke is specifically related to carbon combustion. For another example, if you mix bleach and ammonia you create a gas but it's not smoke.

That was an awesome recovery. Nothing like a Blazer with at Search and Rescue sticker on the back getting rescued after being lost/stuck in the mountains for 2 weeks. Demri nice job on getting the skid steer down the hill. Next time she will be in rabbit mode.

Smoke is made of solid particulates, light enough to float in air and being carried around in the wind. The particulates com from whatever is burning. Steam is water vapor. Normally you can't see it, but when you do it's because it's condensing on particulates (dust, usually) that are already in the air. Robby's right!

If you know, that such equipment usually have retarder (Auto brakes) when you let go off steering (throttle) handles and it comes down to stop. 2nd thats why they put her on lowest speed, so it wouldnt get so twitchy

I know it's already been answered the smoke or steam ...well on a hot day when driving down a long stretch of lonely highway the sun hits the road 100 yards or more in front of your car, and it appears to be wet,but when you get to that spot it's not,but again about 100more yards it's the same thing and if you look real close you can see the heat waves just rising up from the highway it's a cool thing to see,but I bet not many people even notice this... It's not smoke nor steam just pure heat🌞🌞🌞 Ps Hillbilly it takes a big man to admit they were mistaken or something like that...I know you are strong. In general you should clear a vehicle from the top down. So snow doesn't cover the windshield when you stop. Nothing is worse than driving down the highway when the snow sloughs off a tractor trailer. In front of you lands on your windshield and blinds you. A little bit of common courtesy makes winter driving a lot safer.

I was just riding on that mountain yesterday, and I rode through where the Forklift, Blazer, and Heavy D had struggled with the recoveries. The road is wider than usual, but it's much smoother after being groomed. Thanks for taking the time to "fix" the snow. We have another storm coming in this weekend adding another foot. No harm, no foul.

If you had bolted 2 small pieces of angle iron to the bottom of those hoods, you could have had steering. Keep the hoods for skis and bolt on some 1-inch angle on the tops (bottom of the ski) and keep them for other recoveries where you need to just slide something off the mountain.

For sure steam is not smoke, smoke is little dust/ash particles that comes from burning stuff, steam is watervapor that is only visible if the air it is in is too cold for it to disolve into the air. Smoke will be visible smoke even in very warm air or cold air.

2:12 This reminded me when I was 14-15 years old riding my 50cc in town and I found a group of cops walking on te he sidewalk as I had to stop at a stop sign on a rainy day. There was this one cop that said all alarmed: "Hey, your scooter is smoking!". I looked at where he was pointing and I saw the exhaust covered in a big cloud of vapor from the big puddle I just went through. I looked at the cop with what must've been a half-amused look and half "really dude?" look and saw all the other cops basically saying the same and telling him that it was OK. I went home still amused and confused. 🤣 And now look at me, I sound like a grandpa telling a story from his youth! 😅

Simple Hillbilly logic. Where there is smoke, there is fire. There is no fire so it is not smoke. You can trap steam, turn it into water and back into ice. You can trap smoke but you cannot turn it back into what it was. Steam and smoke are not the same.

A cordless heat gun would be a nice addition to the winter recovery kit. Fast deicing for anything but the glass. A couple ribs of angle iron on your hoods would make steerable skis. Alignment wouldn't be great, but better than steering by hope.

Robby is right in this case. Smoke and steam are actually two different things... Smoke is the result of combustion - when stuff burns. It is a "chemical change", which means the smoke can never turn back into the original stuff. Steam on the other hand is just water turning into a vapor when it gets heated up. It is a "physical change", which means the steam can always turn right back into water when it cools. But steam and smoke can be mixed... that can confuse things. In the case where a fireman sprays water on burning stuff to put out the fire is one example. Smoke comes from the burning stuff and steam comes from the sprayed water. Trying to burn very green branches is another example. There is a lot of water in green branches.

Steam is defined as pure water vapor. Smoke is water vapor, a mix of gases, and soot of some sort. So steam is a subtype of smoke yes!
