I had this season ranked #18. This was the first full season of Survivor I ever watched. I didn't think this season was that bad. Early on, I thought it was interesting seeing how everyone could operate with so little provided to them. I thought some of the early votes were alright, despite a lot of early legendary players going early. The Jenna and Sue quits really kinda halted the season as far as its momentum was concerned, but I thought a lot of the other boots in the pre-merge were solid. For me, the biggest thing about this season is the Rob and Amber story, and how it evolves as the season goes on, and when it hits that confrontation with the deal with Lex, that's where this season somewhat climaxes. I thought those two episodes were probably the biggest ones of the season. Even down the stretch, just watching how Rob maneuvers every obstacle in his way to get him and Amber to the final 2 is quite impressive. Getting Rupert and Tom to fight was great in my opinion, and I wasn't too surprised most of the jury was upset. If I lost my 2nd chance at $1 Million, I'd be upset too if I was Lex, Tom, or Alicia. Rob definitely got humbled in a humiliating at the final tribal council, which led to Amber winning the game. Overall, the story of those two is what makes this season, and I don't think this story can ever be replicated on Survivor or Big Brother, and that's why I have it ranked higher than most people would think.

The biggest thing about the swap is that Jerri didn't get swap screwed, they tried to nerf Rob by trying to get rid of Amber, but they prevailed. That's why Rob ultimately lost, because he made a final 2 deal with Alicia in case Amber didn't make it back.

All-Stars is one of my least favourite seasons. The winners and the other big stars were voted out purely because they had a big reputation. It's frustrating that the winners had zero chance of winning the game. The season quickly becomes a boring slog after the actual 'stars' are voted out, with the lesser-known characters dominating the game. The sexual assault scandal is tough to watch and the Lex-BRob situation feels very nasty and personal due to how these cast members knew each other from outside the game. Most of the All-Stars tarnished their reputations here. One of the few to improve their reputation was Amber, and I don't find her to be an interesting character in this season. Even someone like Rupert, who was great on his first season, comes across as sour and miserable this time around. The season is fun for the first few episodes but the charm of seeing returnees quickly wears off. It is very dark, boring and uncomfortable to watch. I can't think of a single highlight from the post-merge, besides Shii-Ann winning immunity, but that is only a fun moment because it breaks up the monotony. All-Stars ended up being a huge detriment to the Survivor franchise at the time and they had to do a total 'reset' afterwards, focussing on new cast members to re-create the franchise. It's a season I will never revisit and I hope I can scrub it from my memory so that I can remember the All-Stars as they were on their original seasons.

I’m pretty sure BvW ranked around 9th when they did the poll in 2015. It probably hasn’t aged too bad, since Tyson is still beloved, Ciera came back for another standout stint in Cambodia and she basically changed the game singlehandedly, and it’s still remembered as the only goody redemption island season. The only modern seasons rn at probably surpass it in the rankings are DvG and MvGX, maybe Cambodia but I know there’s a growing anti-Cambodia sentiment because people think it’s too game botty, maybe WaW depending on how the masses feel about it

@@worthplayingfor2197 I'm with you on that I think both aren't great and it's mostly due to the theme really restricting gameplay and the drama it creates isn't anything special and comes off more annoying then anything (I couldn't tell you the amount of times I rolled my eyes any time Jaclyn and Jon argued on SJDS)

BvW is the only season I gave up watching halfway through. If Cagayan hadn't revitalised the franchise, I might have given up entirely. It's not the worst season, but it's a slog with very flat characters and Redemption Island slowing the game to a crawl.

Thought: Rob and Dreamz both famously reneged on a deal with another player (one that was made rather publicly, in front of all the other contestants), yet are viewed quite differently by the audience for their decisions...... Hmm..... why is that? Hmm.....
@Rps28003 жыл бұрын
I know what you’re getting at, and there might be something to it, but I also think there were some other factors. The jurors I think were equally mad at them, it’s just that Rob was sitting next to Amber at the end who was also a part of it, meaning Rob ended up getting votes. Also, I’m not sure how popular Lex was at the time since I wasn’t watching, but I think that some people weren’t fans of his, whereas I don’t think anyone really hated Yau-Man, so it hurt more to see him get betrayed
@Romans8-93 жыл бұрын
That is so ridiculous and a terrible false equivalence. Dreamz' betrayal involved accepting a brand new vehicle for his vote which he got to keep. Yauman was also given a heroic edit as the older harmless gentleman and was well liked by the audience. He was voted most popular player of the season. Lex came across as whiny and a sore loser as did Kathy, which is why Rob was way less vilified.
@SirChristopher3658 ай бұрын
@@Romans8-9 The key phrases in your reply are "was given a heroic edit" and "came across as". In other words, the audience perceived Yau-Man differently than they did Kathy and Lex. You're actually proving my point for me. In countless interviews since Fiji, Yau-Man and the rest of the F6 have gone on to state that they all planned to give Dreamz the truck. Yau just tried to milk that moment to his own strategic benefit in the game, and has also said he didn't want the truck anyways, because of the taxes. In other words, Yau was no more magnanimous than anyone else playing Survivor; we in the audience, at the time, just believed he was because we were star-struck.

This is ranked FAR too low at #24..... I think I did a full ranking of my own last summer, and it was Top 3 for me..... might have even had it at #2, next to Pearl Islands. Sure, it's a shame that Rob went out early, and the predictability of the post-merge Pagong-ing, but it has such an iconic cast, compelling drama, and fantastic physical challenges. What more do you really need from a good Survivor season, in any era?
@markozbunjol6253 жыл бұрын
Agree, to me All Stars is best season. Why? Because is thougest, most dirty survival i ever see. I don't care for shitty new season and oh do not came to me and said that new season from 20. to 40. is best strategist because to me is not. Why? Because older season is thougher and do not have Immunizty Idol. Yes, i understand that season with ID is more atractive but being atractive is not being the best. Best serason is with NO immunity idol. Why? Because people have much better stragety, social game then new gamers. New Survivor is way overrated. I mean, look at All Stars. Look at weather, challenges, players. Survivor then is like little family and that's why All Stars is hated season because msot of them is friends and when Robfather stab in back manny players then becaem though. Brilliant season, best ever. Seeing Robfather how he is playing against other all stars without immunity idol i never seen that great game by any other survivor player. People say that RI is best Robfather and ok, is really perfect game but Robfather in All Stars is most cutthroat game ever played by any player in survivor WITHOUT ID much harder.
