I would have preferred to see Earl and Yul on Heroes vs Villians instead of Tom and Colby. Earl and Yul knew how to turn things around after being in crappy situations. Tom and Colby didn’t know what to do when they weren’t given the default deference they were accustomed to in real life.

Tom played a hell of a game in HvV. He very nearly pulled the numbers back around in his favour. I would argue that Earl may have been able to do better, but definitely not Yul (who only flipped Penner at F9 because of the super idol). Also that last sentence is weird. Are you implying that Yul, the extremely successful Google executive, gets his way less in real life than Tom (a firefighter) or Colby (an auto-mechanic)?

I am SHOCKED Guatemala is next. I was 100% expecting All-Stars or Gabon. I wasn't expecting to rewatch Guatemala for another few weeks at least

Gabon I think recently got popular it’s a fun train wreck of a cast. I mean the odds of survivor getting those 3 types of people in a final three are very slim now.

SPOILER!....Ehhh...my fault for reading the comments before finishing the video. IMO, Guatemala really shouldn't be much higher than 27. To be fair....27th isn't that bad for a season is lowly regarded as that season is.

I'm rewatching this season and I'm on the merge episode now. So far I've been really impressed and forgot a lot about what happened in the premerge. Yau-man, Earl, Michelle Yi, Dreamz, are some of my favorite players ever. Even villains like Rocky and the four horsemen are very fascinating and good characters.

Just finished watching Fiji so forgive my lateness. First off, the twist is dreadful. Due to the twist, the early pre merge is some of the worst survivor ever produced. Production rightfully tried to intervene and from the swap on to the end it is some of the best survivor produced. Absolutely great. It is absolutely the first modern season. Ranked a little too low here imo. Earl is interesting because he’s the figurehead and social leader of his alliance but by no means it’s strategic leader. A few too many dude bro’s and young relatively meh women but it’s a good cast and a good season. The twist makes for instant heroes and villains and the season is helped by the built in heroes going on to reach the end. Dreamz should’ve absolutely been on the Second Chances ballot.

Fiji is one of the seasons I like to rewatch the most. Lots of distinct personality players even in the first episode. Earl is definitely one of the best winners. The haves vs have nots twist is something I hope never happens again

Michelle Yi is such an uncommon player and character in Survivor. You have this cute bubbly girl who is socially aware and decent enough of at strategy. I always viewed her as Earl’s second-in command, while Yau-Man was Earl’s partner. She was setup to go deep into the game and gets royally robbed

I love Fiji, it’s one of my favorite survivor seasons. And I love Earl, Dreamz and Yau-man as players but they were trying too hard to defend Dreamz and Cassandra.

Unfortunately, not every season can be underrated, so I do feel like this is a fair ranking for this season, perhaps even slightly high. Guatemala is MUCH better. However, that doesn't mean this is a bad season. There's plenty to like here and its very entertaining at times, but it does feel like the whole seasons is a 3 man show. I'd like to see more of Michelle or Anthony, but that didn't happen. There's high highs and low lows, but when the low low is just how bad the first half of the season is, occasional fun idol snippets or vote outs don't do enough to outweigh it.

I can't believe people are so shocked at Guatemala being so low... I rewatched it recently and it's overall a very boring season, particularly pre-swap as well as the rest of the pre-merge too. Theme and location are cool but there's really not that much groundbreaking strategy or characters that you're really rooting for besides maybe Rafe.

I don't think they were going to divide by race like in Cook Islands. They would have had to have two more kinds of Buffs made and ready, and no pictures have ever been released of them. Like the unused Green buff from Island of the Idols (that crew got to keep) and was never sold.

This season ranked at #34 for me. The pre-merge wasn't very exciting just based on the fact the Ravu looked so miserable while they were out there. Plus, the boots early on in the game weren't very interesting at all. I will say that some of the tribal challenges were great. We had the meke, the slip n' slide challenge, and the sliding hub race were fantastic. Lisi and Stacy definitely were not pleasant to watch for me, especially in the pre-merge and it just disappointed me. Once we got to the merge, things didn't exactly pick up. We see Michelle get robbed of a deep run and the great blindside of Edgardo, but after that things aren't that exciting. Even when Yau-Man makes the deal with Dreamz, everyone can easily see that Dreamz is not gonna go through with that considering Yau-Man would've easily won the season. Other than that, the editing focuses so much on Earl, Yau-Man, and Dreamz which were great guys and solid players, but I just wish we could've seen more from the others. Plus, the final tribal council was so rough watching Dreamz get beat down for playing Survivor, because I respect what he did as a player. Overall, I just think this season just doesn't provide much excitement, and because there aren't many memorable people from this season is why I rank it so low. However, I would love to see Earl, Dreamz, or Michelle play again.

I agree on a lot of your points but i think it really comes into perspective and how you view survivor. I think this season had a lot of memorable and interesting moments even though a lot of them are interesting because its morally gross. From a pure entertainment stand point i actually like this season, as far as a fair season, this might be one of the farthest seasons from fair possible. If you want to see top tier strategy this season isnt for you but if you like drama, arguing, and content, its really not that bad. To your point about editing i actually felt that Earl received much less screen time than regular winners because of the abundance of bold characters. Yeah it was clear who was going far and who was most likely going to win but we saw a lot of moving pieces around them and they are forced to adapt. I think overall it is a bottom 15 season for me but i was rooting for earl the whole time and im a sucker for an underdog story.

Fiji SUCKS so bad the cast is absolutely terrible earl and yao man aside like seriously even if you went into it blind you look at that final 3 cassandra and dreams PFFFFFFT as if they have any hope in hell of winning and it shows in the jury votes dreamz should never have accepted that truck because the second he did that he lost his shot at the million not freaking wonder yao man is the only one who ever played again (although I do wish earl would give it another go dude only saw one episode of the show and was recruited and he took to it like a duck to water)

Earl is an incredible winner, sits just outside the top 10 for me. Dreamz is awful though and while I understand the panel defending him, he's still horrid and wish we had someone defending Yau Man's perspective. In all fairness though, Yau was stupid

Earl being on Winners at War instead of Wendell (as was theorized Earl would realistically have replaced) would have meant Michele or Nick would have been taken out instead of Yul potentially...
