First pitch and impressions of my Robens Chaser 2! A mid-range lightweight backpacking tent that’s been tested in some seriously strong winds!
The two-person Robens Chaser 2 uses the versatile FlexPitch system with Inner Ring Suspension, allowing pitching flysheet and inner options to match weather and provide full or part-sheltered bug-free sky views when nights are warm. The inner’s gear rope transfers to the flysheet to keep it in shape when used on its own to reduce weight. Outer venting options include low vents, apex door vent and two-way zip.

Lools like an atko /scarp/ helium cross over . Such a design is great for keeping the weight down but ventilation is the key - especially with sil nylon tents . Hope it holds up to the weather and doesnt suffer too much from sag on those large panels in the wet .

I'd say this is pretty much the same as the the Hilleberg Akto. I wonder if Robens has sorted out the issue with leaking in that vent above the door zip. (Edit: Okay now I feel dumb, I have thumbnails hidden).

I have family tents from this company. Never let us down. I currently use Robens starlight 1. Never let me down either. It’s a bit compact but I don’t mind that. Been thinking of getting the chaser 1. Still very compact but lighter. I am considering because of the lighter tent would enable me carry a lightweight tarp. My options would allow on through trips a lot of versatility. Looking forward to seeing this tent in action Thanks 🔥

Nice first look , it’s a cracking asking little tent loads of pitching options and it will take some serious wind 117mph ! Hence the slightly longer pitching times but worth it , pitches low to the ground so can be used in most conditions summer and autumn/ winter Cheers for the mentions much appreciated as always! Cheers Col Outdoor Gear Essentials

Looks a decent enough tent and big enough for tall people. Don't be put off by the thin material as my Flytop has the same thin floor with 5000 HH and I had a river run undere for a few hours and not a drop came through, but may be worth having a groundsheet in place. Nice and light too but as you say, the real test is in various conditions to see how it holds up but Robens do have a good reputation. Cheers.

I really hope you get on with your Robens Chaser 2, I had one briefly ! As you elude it’s a bit of a faff to pitch, and your garden is bowling green flat ! When you get your tent out into the hills and real life pitches which are slopped and undulating, you may, like me, find it near impossible to pitch taunt and square ! The amount of tension I had to put into the corners trying to pitch the tent square and taunt was ridiculous, and ultimately I feared failure would occur with either continued repeated use or adverse weather. Thankfully I managed to return mine to the retailer and received a full refund.

I have used the Robens Chaser 2 for 6 nights in varied conditions and it has been superb - the multiple pitching options are fantastic for summer and the shoulder seasons.Lightweight and superb quality and handles high winds admirably ,although I am not foolhardy and would not camp in storm force conditions. It is a great tent and although not Hilleberg price or indeed the perceived " superior quality " of the Hilly, it is still a great 3 season tent. The only negatives for me have been the small (narrow) vestibule, the initially tight pole sleeve and the white guylines, that tend to get tangled too easily and get dirty quickly - would definitely recommend this tent to anyone looking for a lightweight, high quality, reasonably priced wild camping tent for UK 3 season conditions

Bought this tent myself recently and have pitched it in the various configurations in the garden (yet to take it for a wild camp). really wanted to get myself a more sturdy tent than my OEX Lynx EV 1 man but couldn't justify the price tag of something like the Fjallraven Abisko lite 2. Saw this for around £250 and couldn't resist. Wish I didn't know you got yours from the same retailer for less though, damn it! 😅 Look forward to getting out in mine and seeing how you get along with yours Ben, cheers Edit: oh and I felt the same regarding the floor fabric, it does feel concerningly thin. I opted to get a generic groundsheet from amazon for extra protection and peace of mind (Clostnature brand), a little extra weight, but preferable than having to repair the tent floor.

Finally used my Robens Chaser 2 last night on Mardale Ill Bell summit in gusty conditions. Really pleased with how it seemed to just shrug of the wind. Only niggle is it's shame they don't sell a less meshy inner, but still impressed with how it performed! Hope you're enjoying yours Ben

I have the Colman Cobra 2, which is very similar in shape, it's not as light as this. I find that the pegs which are the same bend easily. I also think this design does take more pitching time, particularly having to go round and move the guys to get it right. Thanks for the review Ben, as always excellent, I wonder what your assistant thought?

Many in the hiking/backpacking community praise OEX, but I must say the Cobra is really under-rated. Great wind resistance, acceptable weight, durable, a decent amount of space inside, all of that at a ridiculously low price point.

It's a tent Iv looked at time and time again, I have similar concerns with the fabric though, also just how good the 2000mm HH will actually be, it's good to see a UK review on it as I couldn't find any when I looked, ended up buying the Robens Starlight 1 in the end, HH is 5000 fly 10000 bathtub and only half a kg more in weight, plus I got it at a bargain for £128.

I have this tent about 1.5 years, using it with warious conditions. The first pitch was traumatic as the manual was very poor, so I used about 1h to pitch it. With the practice I need now about 5 min. To pitch it. It is a decent 1P tent not even cllose to be 2P tent. I am 185 cm tall and there is plenty of space. It standst hi winds but it is very noisy. The ventilation is too good as the wind blows throught even the ventilation window is closed. It is a summer tent, not really 3 season. The price in spring 2022 was 400€.

I was looking at this tent for a while but I already have a Vango Cairngorm 200 so I didn't think it was worth getting another similarly designed tent (although this is much lighter). The good thing about the single pole design tents is that they withstand some brutal weather. The sizing on this and similar style tents is silly. They are not 2 man tents, more like 1.5, and the 3 man versions are 2.5. Why don't they just make a true 1, 2 and 3 man versions?
