A sin he wasn't selected as one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history. He was a shooting monster.

They really did blow it there, when they made that list there had only been 18 players in NBA history to be league MVP, and Bob was one of them.

@slip satch I think both are top 50 but McAdoo is certainly more qualified than Pistol. Dude was league MVP and led the league in scoring 3 years in a row. You talk about McAdoo getting knocked out by Havlicek, but Pistol didn't even make the playoffs with the Jazz.

Magnificent acceptance speech, one of the best for the NBA Hall of Fame. Blessings to you, Bob. Enjoyed your performances with the Braves. Your match-ups against Cowens and the Celtics was a thing to behold.......classic. Indeed, as Xavier said below, you should have been one of the 50 greatest, because you definitely were. Lastly. I hope you get a head coaching job one day, for you've been an assistant "forever". All the Best to you and your family.

I was a Knick fan but loved McAdoo from the first time I saw him in his rookie year vs the Knicks at MSG. And when he got to the Knicks, I was beyond controllable. I just wish that he could have been a part of a championship with them.

Oh Matthew, you are so wrong, but also right. The 76 Line up, at the beginning of the season was Ernie D at the Point, Randy Smith at the 2, Adrian Dantley at the 3, Bob McAdoo at the 4, and Moses Malone at the 5 , John Schumate who averaged 13 off the bench, and had Gar Heard but he was the first too go before the season started, Marvin Barnes came the next year. then when they found out how good he was BANG out of here.Sadly ownership got its wish and traded away everyone but Smith that year.

I remember the trade that brought you to L. A. from a new head coach in Pat Riley. People were somewhat confused on the trade; remember when people said it was either 'McAdoo or McAdont'? Turns out it was McAdoo. A very well deserved place in the Hall of Fame!

I'm not sure why some great players with such stellar careers and surpme talent go underrated. Big Mac as a jump shooting, ball handling center that revolutioned the game in the 70's. He was the blueprint for guys like Dirk, Garrett, KD and other big guys that are now able to it the ball on the floor and their own shot. Why wasn't Big Mac on the All Time 50 Greatest Team.

@@ElectricCool Moses was on the Roster opening day for the Braves. He was traded after 2 games. I was there for the home opener and saw him. Yes 76 was Dantley's rookie year, and he played right out of the shoot, playing 36 Mins a night and averaging 20.3pts a game, and 7.8 rebounds, and almost 2 assists a night. The opening day starting roster was Ernie D, Randy Smith, Adrian Dantley, Bob McAdoo and Moses Malone.

True story at Gsw game vs Buffalo 74 or 5 Mac can do struggled in the first half against the Ws. He got fouled in the second half made both fTs then went off 50plus later Braves won . Amazing scorer plus he was an all round player blocks steals . But when he pulled up to shoot money.

Oh how I wished the ownership did not on purpose destroy the Braves franchise, as they had the players to win Championships. Captain Jack would of stayed, and their lineup would of been starters Ernie D, Randy Smith at the 2, Adrian Dantley at the 3, Bob McAdoo at the 4 and Moses Malone at the 5, with Gar Heard, Marvin Barnes et al, coming off the bench.
