Former Giants pitcher Mike McCormick threw this pitch. He taught a group of pitchers at a baseball camp how to throw it. I could get it down to a quarter spin with a sharp late break, but rarely did it stay in the strike zone.

This is a pitch I throw myself, and a forkball is better at slower speeds. Very hard pitch to master, but if you can throw it consistently, it's an amazing changeup pitch, probably the best in the game

I throw this pitch for fun when I am playing catch with my friends. I can't figure out how to throw a knuckleball to save my life but I can get this thing to wiggle in the air pretty good lol. I have small hands for a guy though so it starts to hurt between my index and middle finger if I throw it for too long. Also mine might be juuuuust a bit slower than 80mph hahaha.

I used to throw this pitch in high school. It was a bit of a gamble where it was going. If I threw it for a swinging strikeout, it was going to probably bounce off the front of the plate. Needed a good catcher to keep it from going to the backstop. Definitely had more than one batter walk away saying "wtf was that?!"

No, he did not have a clear forkball grip. He had the same grip layout, but the pointer and middle fingers are dug in like a normal knuckle ball, the ring finger is held where a normal forkball would be thrown. Not a normal forkball grip.

i believe that grips on the ball has nothing to do with your pitching for me its in the release because i throw both forkballs and knuckle balls with one forkball grip in my forkball i wedge it with my fingers and put my thumb under the ball it spins but it drops a lot when i throw a knuckleball same thing but i dont put my thumb under the ball and let the ball slip my hand it dont even spin nor drop but it moves also i change my release point

This is a forkball which is not a fastball....more like a knuckleball! Split finger fastball will fall off the plate...this ball does not rotate, like a knuckler, but somehow continues into a slider type motion....plus it is thrown at about 70mph....very hard to hit and I believe he labeled the pitch...."The WTF".....hope Luc O can understand this now!

What he is throwing is a split-finger, but due to how he throws it, his thumb counteracts the tumble and produces no-spin. So its a split-finger with knuckleball motion...and it comes in around 80mph

forkball has no spin so it tumbles in to righties. it is also a breaking ball, however a split finger fastball is a type of fastball thats has more velocity but drops vertical
