Great memories from that time....I am a 76 year old artist...Crumb was one of the big influences in me...

R.Crumb-his work is the most concise guide to the 60's geo-psychic landscape. He constantly poked fun at all of our foibles.

I remember being no more than 16 years old when I could see the movie of the cat fritz. I blew my mind! I had no idea about drugs and even less about sentimental relationships, but from that moment on I began to draw, inspired by Crumb's work. A great artist indeed.

My dad, currently 70, is a lifelong fan or Robert Crumb. He has a framed record of Janis Joplin's album 'Cheap Thrills' hung up in his computer room. There's a Smoker's Paradise here in town that sells posters of some of his work. They have the comic of a man who's eyes melt as he smiles. It's such a wacky piece!

I'm 65 and had that Cheap Thrills record growing up-- it was one of my favorites. That was an example of some of the best album art ever. ❤

I find R. Crumb's work, especially his early work, is often revolting. I just can't get enough of it. As I go through my collection of his books, I am amazed time and time again that he expresses some of the weirdest fantasies with such cogent detail. Many of Crumb's later books confirm his mastery of illustration. Really beautiful.

You are wrong there ".... Robert Crumb is among the greatest comics artists of our times .." ? Robert Crumb is among the great graphic artists of ALL times, he is a virtuso, in a class of his owm

When I think of Crumb, I almost always link them to Bill Plympton, or the strange work from MTV's Liquid Television. I had seen samples of their work in that back corner section of comic shops but didn't really understand their purpose and place until much older. Liquid TV being the big one outside of Heavy Metal.

Same here. I had high hopes (pun intended) when the Freak Brothers animated TV show was introduced a couple of years ago. It doesn't hold a candle to the original, but it's not terrible. A different kind of artist, but, in my opinion, right up there with Stan Lee. Fun fact: 'Fritz the Cat' was the world's first X-rated animated film.

I bet, his material or if anyone is gonna make a pastiche of his work, it will be rejected by online publishers since these publishers today are afraid to push the envelope in storytelling.
