Robert De Niro brings both laughter and melody to the stage as he affectionately pays tribute to his close friend, the "OG" Billy Crystal.
The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is proud to celebrate the 46th Honorees for lifetime artistic achievements: actor and comedian Billy Crystal; acclaimed soprano Renée Fleming; British singer-songwriter producer, and member of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb; rapper, singer, and actress Queen Latifah; and singer Dionne Warwick.
The event took place Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, in the Kennedy Center Opera House, and premieres Wednesday, December 27 at 8pm ET on CBS and will be available for viewing on Paramount+.

At 51, I feel like I've been blessed with a life full of Billy Crystal. I remember loving Soap as a little kid, scarcely aware of what groundbreaking television I was watching. Growing up with When Harry Met Sally is a touchstone. We related to them differently at different ages. We reach a point when we understand that making her meow isn't as important as we once thought it was. Watching him go toe-to-toe with Robin Williams and knowing when to stand aside and let the tornado spin and when to grab hold and ride it was a lesson in talent and humility. But it was his Oscar hosting that I think of and miss the most. He truly was a class act. He made fun but never belittled, never below the belt. He celebrated the movies with us and helped to craft some of Oscar's most memorable moments. They feel like precious time capsules now. It's a gift and responsibility to celebrate those we love while they're living. He'll carry this night for the rest of his days.

Never heard Robert singing before... in New York New York Liza Minnelli definitely was... and I know that pretty well for sure, being Bob for me the best actor of all times! Working together must have really made Robert and Billy bond that strong if someone who doesn't give away too much hen out of a role like De Niro goes there on stage showing off that one thing of many that Billy Crystal does much much much better together with making us laugh: singing!
