What are you talking about? They were clearly happy that the rumor was true. The people that go to these events are the biggest comic book/film nerds there are and know the source material well. The only people unhappy with this are the ones who lack common sense on what a “multiverse” is. It’s absolutely perfect taking the worlds biggest hero and now making him the deadliest villain. Every character who knows that face as Tony Stark will have to mentally struggle with fighting him. Or possibly see Doom infiltrate the Avengers pretending to be Tony.

Eventually the markets going to get flooded with convoluted and lazily written stories to the point where people won’t even be able to follow anything anymore. Remember the simpsons with the “a wizard did it” logic? kindve the same argument. “Oh it’s the multiverse”. that’s how marvel can get away with three spider men looking different but dr. Stranges all looking the same. , the odds of Peter Parker seeing two spider men that look completely different but dr strange seeing multiple carbon copies of himself TOTALLY makes mathematical sense. It has nothing to do with casting familiar faces to pander right? (I’ll give no way home a pass). But cmon, once anything being possible gets brought into the picture, nothing really starts to matter anymore. Matter of fact, I believe multiverses were what ultimately led marvel comics to going bankrupt in the 90s for the same reasons. Anyway, if you’re able to see past the gimmicks, all the power too you. But don’t kid yourself. Multiverses are starting to get stupid 😂

no it doesn't. Not unless you're not familiar with the comics or how the multiverse and variants work. He doesn't even have to be playing Tony. He's playing a completely different character. He is probably a variant of Tony in the MCU but he is not Tony. Much like how Evans' Human Torch and his Captain America look identical to one another, but are different characters from different universes. They could also easily be variants of one another who simply led completely different lives and identities. Variants don't have to be identical, characteristically or namely. They're simply an alternative version of one another. In one universe, RDJ is Tony. In another, he's Victor Von Doom. It only doesn't make sense and ruins the suspension of disbelief if you're a CASUAL fan of this world and these characters.

It's just sad. Robert Downey barely made it to dyess iron Man without a walker with tennis balls. Plus it just scares me because marvel makes every superhero take off their mask to show their face. We don't even need a good actor. We just need a good voice actor because Dr Doom never takes off his mask. We saw Darth Vader's face more than ducked Doom ever showed his face in the comics unless it was fully healed through some freak crossover.
