*Mind blowing Downey had relatively few hits after 25-years in the biz. But his sheer talent (and others' faith) earned him "Iron Man."*
@LockeDemosthenes224 күн бұрын
Well, I think it's sort of misleading to just look at a film's budget and box office gross to determine if it was a hit or a flop. A lot of these movies (especially the ones made in the 1980s and 1990s) ended up making most of their money from video sales and rentals as well as from being shown on cable. Also, the movie Chaplin is considered a flop if you're just looking at box office numbers, but it was critically acclaimed and Robert Downey Jr. got an Oscar nomination for it. You can't always determine a movie's success solely based on how much money it made.

The thing that fascinating about this list is that an actor can get paid a certain amount of money for a role because the movie was deemed as a flop, but if the actor did that same movie today, they’re not getting paid that amount of money they’re getting paid more

Was he seriously paid $800k for The Incredible Hulk???? He was in ONE post credits scene that was like a minute long. He was probably only on set for a day or two at the most. Also, what is exactly the difference between a "blockbuster" and and a "superhit"? Iron Man 3 grossed $1.2 billion on a $200 million budget, but isn't considered a "superhit" for some reason. Surely, grossing 6 times it's budget should qualify for the highest category.

He doesn’t get nearly enough credit for “acting” himself over, and over and over again. Do yourself a favor. Go watch Burt Lancaster, Paul Schofield, Wolfgang Preiss and dozens of others in “The Train”. These are REAL actors who deserve what Robert gets for just,…doing whatever it is he does.
@rokeYouuer14 күн бұрын
Some people are Hollywood actors and others are Hollywood entertainers. RDJ is more of an entertainer (I’d also put Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Hart, Nicolas Cage, and Dwayne Johnson in the entertainers list, among others). I can’t really claim that one is better than the other - some people get paid the big bucks for being able to step into any role, and others only have one trick, but it’s a trick audiences don’t get tired from and keep coming back for more.

@ivanduarte1875Ай бұрын
Many actors such as even Denzel n such as Marky mark also have had some bad films, yet it's not always the actors fault. Sometimes the story line is just so obvious n stupid that even a great performance is not enough to make viewers blind. Plus supporting actors are also not always a good combination. Robert is a great actor. He is also a good example of a person who can change his life around.

Question as I’m unclear as to the logic in general , not RDJR specific - if the budget is 20M$ and it made 22M$ (not including any dvd, streaming or toys) , the studio splits the tickets with cinemas to about 49-51% etc , how is it average if it costs 20M$ and they made 22M$ and probably got back from tickets around 11M$ or more /less and also not including advertising budget as unclear if part of budget or not !
