Three guitar parts (two solo parts, which were not used for the record, and one rhythm guitar part) and organ by Robert Fripp, bvox by Tony Levin.
The solo part on the left channel was take 1, came from here: www.dgmlive.com...
Everything else came from here: www.dgmlive.com...
Obviously, the solo parts were never intended to be heard simultaneously, but some may find it fascinating to note the differences between two takes.
I took the liberty of having a go at mixing take 1 into the song: • Matte Kudasai (Robert ... . Wether it's any good is not for me to decide, since Belew and Fripp decided the song needed a more spacious approach, so all of Fripp's solo parts were left unused (apart from some of it, which was used on the vinyl version of the album and the first cd edition, but this version left both Belew and Fripp unconvinced).

Possibly the most remarkable artist of the last century. The future, if it still exists, will view Robert Fripp very favorably.❤

You can hear Robert’s approach to Matte Kudasai in another song he recorded a few years earlier called “North Star”. It appears on his album “Exposure” lyrics sung by Daryl Hall.

Exactly what i felt when i first listened to "Matte Kudasai". Two beautiful songs with Fripp's guitar signature. I love his more melodic approach in these.

Ebow ? my favorite tune the standard b of eadgbe is tuned up to c there is chord in this which is most difficult its such a beautiful song its worth the pain to get it though. you have to fret the note at first fret and let e string ring open below that. I just watched Adrian play this and he comes out plays slide over the top nails it that tune is beautiful try to play it and sing it genius.. This sounds like an ebow to me or some sort of sustainer..

Incidentally, the *answer* to the question, "When, when was the night so long?" ~~~~ Well, that was about 30 years earlier, when Hank Williams wrote: "I've never seen a night so long, When time goes crawling by. The moon just went behind a cloud, To hide his face, and cry."

Fripp sustained guitar is gorgeous -- reminded me of the 70 band. Belew recently said he didn't like the version with this guitar on top... it's over his seagull guitar sounds. Anyway.

No ebows at that time I don't think. I believe it's just high gain with no reverb and the tone rolled all the way back. I think he was going for a violin sound, much like Duane Allman used slide to emulate harmonica!
