The war in Afghanistan shouldn't have happened in the first place. We should have used Special Forces to get Bin Laden and then focused our attention on the one's truly responsible for 9-11... Saudi Arabia.

As a soldier who served under Rumsfeld and Gates, his leadership was marginally better. I don't have a breadth of experience but as a lowly private I felt the differences from the bottom of the line. Gates fired everyone that made up the cold war cronies of Rumsfeld and ushered in a high standard of accountability. We went from using equipment from 1994 to modern body armor.

@whoknew4722
@whoknew4722 2 жыл бұрын
Too simplistic. You've assumed that "right" & "wrong" are easily determinable aspects of the world. They are not. Example: would you say a person who's been lied to by their employer but didn't know that, and based on the lie they quit their job... did that person do the "right" or "wrong" thing? Example 2: Is eating a big mac "right" or "wrong"? To get at a BETTER answer, you need more info/context around it. So, if you've been starved for 2 weeks, and you eat a big mac, that seems "right". Or, if you're morbidly obese and you have healthy food available, but instead you get and eat a big mac, that seems "wrong". And if you're morbidly obese but on you're on your "death bed" (you're dying of late stage cancer and nothing can be done)... THEN eating a big mac may seem "right". So don't look for simple answers --- in a complex world. No one wants to be known as a simpleton.

This is silly and wrong. Iran has powerful elements within their government who could potentially desire to accelerate the end if the world. It is not solely about Iran's internal stability. @@JJ-ki6sv stating the fact that iran wants to end the world with nuclear holocaust seems a bit of a stretch and I wonder if you could provide some factual evidence of that. Iran just wants nuclear weapons to be considered the main sphere of influence in the Middle East. They're not going to commit suicide by utilizing them. With all due respect @Maddie Ball “60 Minutes” has been used as a propaganda tool by the agencies for decades. Unfortunately, it’s pure propaganda, not real journalism. This show is about presenting the public with misinformation, often regarding political topics of potential scandal (if the public’s perception were not properly handled, that is.) This is historically documented, if you do the research, yet it is never “publicly” acknowledged. There are many examples of “60 Minutes” manipulation of political narratives…Most especially, regarding topics involving the agencies. “60 Minutes” producers, over the years, routinely misrepresented context in their stories/interviews/investigations in order to drive the desired narratives (not the truth) and they are well known for their deceptive editing techniques to achieve their desired impressions upon the viewer. The presentation of their content is quite deceptive, actually. I hope you can begin to discern these subtle manipulation tactics that are used by media content producers (which is not the same thing as “Journalism”) in order to sway public opinion… especially regarding highly controversial, politically-driven topics … and especially the topics deemed by the agencies as imperative for them to control public perceptions by controlling the narratives. What this interview did not explain was the Surrendering of Afghanistan, for no discernible reason, instead of tactically withdrawing from a 20 year war.) This report was what is known as “damage control”. ✌️

As for the January 6 events at the Capital, let's be clear. The demonstrators that day were not armed insurrectionists. They were protesters and although some of them broke the law the crowd was never a threat to the US government. The Capital building belongs to the people of this country -- not to the politicians. If the people decide to occupy the building it is their right to do so. Of course, if individuals become violent or otherwise break the law they must accept the consequences of their actions. What is sad is how the corrupt Democrats have turned the events of that day into a witch hunt to vilify and silence all opposition.

This is a fairly unbiased and decent interview, but I just have to call out Robert Gates on one thing. Concerning Jan 6th, none of those rioters were armed, and there have been FAR worse domestic attacks on congressional and federal buildings before and after. I do not condone it and condemn all those that participated; but to act like Jan 6th is our generations 9/11 is just ridiculous. The 1954 capital shooting alone is a good enough example.

Unjustified or not, I can't remember a single event since 9/11 that impacted the country on a political and cultural level as much as Jan 6 did (maybe you can give me one). It's true that most rioters were just idiots and probably didn't intend on hurting anyone (pipe bombs excluded). But it was egged on by the *President* at the time, based on his own lies about the election and his failure to concede to Joe Biden, with the overt goal to pressure lawmakers into illegally decertifying the election (remember the *"Hand Mike Pence!"* chants?) and to disrupt the counting of the electoral votes. All those are serious aggravating factors IMO that made it far beyond just your average riot or terror attack.

They had erected a gallows and we're chanting "Hang Mike Pence!" They overwhelmed Capital police officers and we're spraying them with chemicals and beating them senseless. 6 of those officers have since committed suicide. Some came wearing military style fatigues carrying zip ties. The arrests that were made were not made at the capital on January 6th, they were made days and weeks later. Who knows what weapons they had? They didn't even need to pull them out as they took control of the building without them. They were waiting for the man who told them to go there and if he had shown up and continued like had been then I'm sure we would have seen what weapons they had at their disposal. If you think all those confederate flag carrying, white power supporting, retrumplican cult followers were not armed then you are incredibly naive or you are just another disinformation spreader pretending not to support the cou

PLEASE **DON'T LIE**. Saying "none of the rioters were armed" is a lie or ignores facts by reputable news sources. Some rioters (insurrectionists) WERE armed. They are charged/indicted, and pending trial. Two notorious violent fliptops: Cleveland Meredith & Lonnie Coffman. None of the miscreants who broke into The Capitol were "patriots" or "political prisoners". After putting up their best defense in court, our courts still are finding them guilty of effectively attacking the United States of America - they acted as traitors.

Strange how AFTER people are in public service they become the kinds of voices we need IN public service. They rarely risk their status as a team player. Yet to his credit he was one of few people that worked at high levels of our government that served both political parties well, they are seldom seen. He clearly served his country first and foremost.

Exactly what I think. Biden could have renegotiated terms and waited a year. Also he opened borders before we were ready. He should have waited on that too. His first year should have only been for Americans recovery from Covid, the economy and our own homelessness. Afterwards created fail proof plans for immigration reform and Afghan withdrawal before he actually started the process.

Military needs to help business anyway it can . We are in dire straits too many programs not working . Keep it simple america does not understand . No money in our industry no business no more big government payrolls . Republicans understand this government employees don't want too . China has declared war on the U.S. we are fools to be allowed to buy from them . I blame americans for not understanding how important it is . Since the 70s the dollar has gotten worse . We don't have safe border or good price on oil . Not giving business opportunity to survive and freedom to decide to stay open or not . If you ever have worked a non government job and pay your taxes you get it.

"Changes in a country must come from within" That is what former Philippine president Fidel Ramos said when United States invaded Iraq, and that is what filipinos have done when we made history by throwing a dictator out of power by a bloodless revolution. It was an example to the world how to make change.
