15 point comeback used to be incredibly special. This 20+ comeback was UNTHINKABLE. This was back when teams didn't crack, didn't get emotionally unstable. Back in the day if you ended the 1st quarter up 10+ there was a good chance you were gonna take care of business and win the game. Now you can't trust anybody. If anything, a team is up early, they're more likely to lose now!

@@TRJ2241987 very true. 96 eastern conference finals game 2 Bulls were down 16 to Orlando in the third quarter and came back to win. To your point that comeback felt more special. Lakers down 15 to Portland in game 7 western conference finals 2000 another one that comes to mind that it felt Blazers were going to finals with that lead after 3 quarters.

Exactly, if he didn't balntly clothlined Nash, consequently got several suns players suspended , the Suns would have a great chance to win it all that year, and maybe another one, and Nash would be about where Steph Curry is today, and the small ball era would be several years earlier. Big Shot Bob really changed NBA history.

I'm not a huge NBA fan but I remember watching this series pretty intently. We have no NBA team in my home market. But the 00's Lakers had a swagger about them that kept me wanting to watch the finals year after year. Can't say the same thing for the Spurs. this was a great series

One of those moments where I'll never forget where I was live.....this was an incredible weekend in New England, the Celtics had just completed at the time the biggest 4th quarter comeback in NBA history....I was at my Grandparents in Connecticut for the weekend.....watched this Kings/Lakers game live with my Dad & Grandpa....I remember they were rooting for the Kings, and I was cheering for the "heel" Lakers......I still remember all three of our reactions when that Horry shot went up......instantly iconic

I never actually watched this game, I was at a wedding in LA. We were at the wedding site waiting for the ceremony to start and the valet guys had this game on a mini-TV. We were checking the score with them. And the collective roar from the valets when Horry made this shot is actually my biggest memory of the wedding (apologies to the couple!). Later asked the bride why the ceremony started late and she said the groom and his party wanted to watch the end of the game!

I had the privilege of shaking the hand that made that shot, on Christmas Eve 2013. I met Big Shot Bob waiting on a tram at Bush airport in Houston. He was headed home to Alabama and I was returning to a rig in the gulf on my regular schedule. I actually saw him across from me in first class Lax-Hou, but wasn't gonna bother him. When I came up the escalator to catch the tram to my next flight and only one person was there, yep, no choice. Super cool chill guy, got a picture too!

I know the Lakers were great, but I think we need to acknowledge how stacked the Kings roster was during this time. Chris Weber, Vlade Divac, Mike Bibby, Doug Christie, Peja Stojakovic, Bobby Jackson, and a young, underrated Hedo Turkoglu 🤯. The West during this time was out of control. The Lakers, Spurs, Kings, Mavs, Twolves, and Trail Blazers ranged from very good to excellent. Anyone of these teams would of won the East Conference.
