@30:10. Royal Navy decline from 1895 ... Britain winning two world wars ... . Would Britain have won without the US Navy (leaving aside USAAF, and US weapons production)?

India has always been the country of the future. Maybe it will always be the country of the future but it will never be the Country of the present.

There goes a platitudinous saying that India disappoints both its optimists and pessimists in a secular fashion. As an Indian, I prefer India to remain a country of the future because the sun set on even the great British empire. India is yet to attain the transformation it takes to become a great country. A country of the future does not mean India is not growing, rather we have travelled a great distance since our independence 73 years ago. But for India to reach its greatness, there is more distance to travel...

I don't think the europeans enjoy hearing they're ideal that by grouping together as one big economic entity will not help thrust them back into #1

I have lot of respect for Robert Kaplan. But he totally gets it wrong when he says stable democracies in Indonesia, Malaysia and India is an outcome of the spread of Islam. I really don't know whether he meant that. These nations/societies were very liberal, secular and democratic because they were undergirded by dharma traditions, esp, Hindu dharma. Even as Islam invaded these nations, people, culturally remained Hindu. India faced waves of marauding Islamic brutes such as Ghoris, Ghaznis, Khiljis, Babars from central Asia and they plundered, raped and killed while their descendants engaged in large scale oppression (conversions, heavy taxes, destruction of temples, art, institutions, libraries...) for nearly 700 years in India. Kaplan sounds clueless about this history. Don't know why? Makes me doubt his intellectual independence.

Its just his view. We should may not accept it or agree with it. No need to hate him.

@@rohanbajaj8367 Did you read the first sentence? Was it about hating him? Rebutting a claim that is patently false, by a well-known geopolitical thinker, with facts, is not about "hating" him. It is about informing him that his view on this matter is not based on the real history of this part of the world. Islamic belief system rejects democracy. That's borne out by majority of Islamic societies. On the other hand, Dharmic society is inherently democratic. So, that is the point.

The moment he said, It is because of Muslims in India, India is stable, I knew this guy is not only suffering from the disease but also his study is stupid. Rest all his interpretations of the established historians.
