The "it was all Tom" argument is so dumb. No matter what you think of him, BB drafted the dude. He had the smarts to keep Tom as the third QB on the roster that year even after they signed Bledsoe to a 100 mil contract that summer. He saw the talent, so you should give him credit. Then he had the guts to trade that 100 mil QB to a division rival for another #1 pick Bledsoe never really hurt us while playing in our division. Thats just one of many moves he made that helped us become the Dynasty for 20 years. Tom 70% but Bill definately 30%. Yes he drafted bad and made some head scrathers too but he deserved alot more than the Krafts and media kicking him on the way out the door.

Because Bill was angry at Tom and Kraft.... by that he benched Malcolm Butler to get back at Kraft and Tom....and at the same time he started to plant his belief about Tom's play on the field to Kraft that Tom was on the down sparrow and kraft believe in so much where Tom left and went to Tampa and won a other Superbowl which made Kraft furious at Bill....and the rest is history ....So stop it ...Bill deserves this type of treatment because he was a terrible GM.....And a terrible head coach but a great defensive coach....

Supposedly Arthur Blank called Robert Kraft on the Bat phone. After small talk - how’s the wife, going to the Masters? - Kraft said, “I’m going to to tell you something that I don’t want repeated. Perhaps Mr. Kraft should become more familiar with federal employment laws. Just the rumor that he called a potential employer of a former employee and said anything more than confirming he was an employee for what period of time and maybe his job title, anything more is extremely libel and Kraft should be held accountable. In fact, because of the franchise nature of their business, the NFL can be held accountable. They have to learn that they bound by laws just like every other employer in the country.

Kraft trusted Bill to much! I'd probably be a bit vindictive to if I'd let this man sabotage the end of Tom's career and his retirement with the franchise he took to the Superbowl 9 times and won 6! Belicheck was petty and arrogant! So much so that the lengths he went to, to make Tom look bad cut the team off at the knees! But Tom still found a way to make his last game as a Patriot, a playoff game! I really think Bill is done as a headcoach or GM in the NFL, or he should be!

I've always known who carried most of the credit for the Patriot Dynasty. I will know by the draft what Paytons plan is. Trying to win right off or building. Don't see them doing much better than a winning season or maybe getting to the playoffs as a wildcard. I'm giving Bill credit as a great defensive coach. Just like Daniel's just don't have what it takes for a headcoach, but give him a good QB and a decent all-around offense and he did wonders with sometimes no stars but Tom and a tight end. You are not going to give him a Payton type contract because of age and he wants control and it may work as well as the post-Brady years. Everything relevant about Belichick today has the word was associated with it, there are probably 3 or 4 franchises that could benefit letting Belichick fix the organization even if you don't exceed 6 wins, and with a lot of these organizations main problem is the owner.

If running a team like Bill Belichick has done in the past, work with today’s players, why did New England get rid of him? It would seem that New England would want Belichick to retire in New England with all of his accomplishments with that team. He still wants to coach, but the Patriots don’t want him? Something is very wrong with this picture!!! I believe teams see his record without Tom Brady, his player personnel decisions lately and his age, and don’t think that’s a great combination to bring to their organization. It’s simple!!!

Bill is a shitty head coach. He sucks as a GM. Great at defense. This is the main reason they won. Tom Brady is the main reason they won those 6 SBs.

@@Richard-gw2lr this is some revisionist history ass bullshit. Not a great HC? What are you a Jets fan? Among any of his piers, Bill has been viewed as one the greatest HCs of all time. The balls it took to replace their franchise guy with TB12 is something we don’t see much of in the league. Teams don’t just sleep walk into 6 SB rings. I had no idea that TB12 took a flier on Gronk to get one of the greatest TE in history. Didn’t know he coached an elite defense and a revered special teams. If you want to see he lost his fast ball sure, but get the fuck out of here if you actually think he is a bad HC. There isn’t a coach out there that doesn’t view him as the peak of the profession.

@@ericmorris9818 this is down playing it as in Brady was the only reason they ever got anywhere. I agree it was lightning in a bottle, but Bill took a career stakes gamble on putting out Drew to put in TB12. Even in that fist SB, you cannot honestly say that the defense wasn’t the winning factor there. Bill adapted and changed in his time too. Taking a flyer on what would eventually be a HOF TE in Gronk is a master move. It’s not like it was all offense all the time when the TB got gojng. The 2019 SB was 13-3. Not to mention basically setting the gold standard for special teams. The other guy in here actually said that Bill sucks as a HC. I genuinely don’t understand how someone can have that opinion. Are fans all of the sudden smarter than all these head coaches that revere Belichek? Sorry if you are catching stays here, I don’t even care about the patriots or the division. It’s just wild to see people down play what was a modern dynasty that reinvented itself.

I hope it isn't true that after all those years together, Kraft would throw Bilichick under the bus. Not that I'm a Bilichick fan, but you can't have this guy in your organization for over 20 years and then privately tell another owner you can't trust him. That's low-down, dirty. On second thought .....Kraft is kinda low-down anyway, right?

I got censored by Yahoo for saying the article was really making BB a sympathetic figure. No one even BB's haters who read or listen to the report would say it makes BB looks bad. It really is making BB looks good and Robert Kraft looks really really bad. And I think the article really is butter up BB because he is now an employee of ESPN.

Everything went sideways for them the second Tom Brady had enough of Belichicks bullsh*t. Kraft gave him a four year leash to figure it out, and Belichick flopped.

If you owned a business and someone told you if you hire XYZ you are going to loose 30 long time employees! If this hire is only going to be around 2 to 3 years 4 at the most! These people are like family they are scouting back office personnel. Then no matter what he tells you that he understands he isn’t the GM but just the coach he will probably cause conflict when the draft or playing personnel that the GM has brought into the team! Why not go younger and not make life difficult on your business!

This is crazy. How have you won 8 Super Bowls (2 as a Defensive Coordinator, or Head Coach - Defense) and still not be considered 'the man?' This is nuts! Let's put this in perspective (and no disrespect to all of these GREAT men), you look at George Halas, Mike Ditka, heck, even Vince Lombardi. Belichick's accomplishments/resume runs circles around all of them. You've got to be kidding me.

I believe it. Kraft said he went to Bledsoe basically behind Bill’s back when he made Brady the starter and told Drew it was unfair. Kraft gave full control of the football operation to Bill and it got him 6 super bowls. The moment it stopped working now “he wants his football team back”. Kraft seems like a spineless asshole to me. Kraft would be nothing without Bill. Kraft canned Parcells for Carroll and mediocrity, then gave Bledsoe a $100 million contract. Kraft was a fledgeling owner and struck gold hiring Bill. These owners and their egos amaze me.

If owners had any brains they would understand that there's no reason for Kraft to do anything to help them. In the mid-70s The legend of the browns Paul Brown told everybody not to hire his offensive coordinator Bill Walsh. All the franchises were stupid enough to listen to him except one desperate one the 49ers

If I'm the Patriots, why would they want the Falcons to succeed. Remember how close is BB to being winningest coach in NFL history and not as Patriot. Also the last time the Falcons was a winning program was 2000 days ago. Who would you trust, Falcons upper maqnagement or a six time winning SB head coach. So much for football people running a football program. Journalism has ngone down the drain in last ten years. Just see what is being published today. Think not being selected to HOF has something to do with it. His turmoil is a losing organization today.

New England had a perfect triangle of Kraft who bought the team and saved them from moving then Belicheck had a reprieve from bad first year to get Brady to bail him out and take over.
