And after seeing this movie again I’m even more blown away.

I think Robert Pattinson might be my favorite Batman. It’s all in his eyes. He conveys so much emotion and intensity without over-performing. Compared to Bale, who by The Dark Knight Rises sounded like he had throat cancer, Pattinson’s portrayal feels more subtle. That said, I do prefer Bale as Bruce Wayne. He nailed the playboy persona, making it clear that it’s just an act. A mask to hide his true self. In contrast, Pattinson’s Bruce is much more isolated and entirely focused on being Batman, leaving little room for Bruce Wayne to exist as a public figure which is why it's a big deal whenever he appears in public. Simply a differant take and one I can see developing coming into the sequel. I’d love to see this universe embrace more of the fantastical elements. It would be great to contrast The Batman and The Penguin by shifting Gotham’s status quo, similar to the comics. Gotham started as a city dominated by crime families and the mob, but then the supervillains emerged, creating a power shift where they replaced the classic crime families. I’d love to see a character like Clayface show up in the sequel, a monstrous, shapeshifting creature that takes both Batman and Gotham completely by surprise. We’ve had “realistic” Batman since Batman Begins (2005), and while it’s been great in many ways, it does limit what these stories can be. Gotham is a city rich with supernatural and fantastical elements, and Batman’s rogues’ gallery is filled with some of the most imaginative and larger-than-life villains in comics. Leaning into those aspects could open up so many creative possibilities for future stories. So who knows what direction the sequel will head towards.

@@LippsReacts Colin freakin Farrell himself is the penguin, the makeup artist for the film was overall focusing on the fact that his work on him had to look more human than makeup like, so Colin disappeared into the makeup and the role so much that everyone including the film’s entire cast didn’t recognize him whatsoever until they needed some convincing that it was him under the prosthetics.

Good reaction! Glad you are seeing more Batman. There are so many things from this franchise you would enjoy like the many amazing animated movies, the Arkham games, and of course the comics. The live action movies that you’ve seen are more grounded but Batman usually has a bit of realism but also fantastical fighting villains from psychos like Joker to super powered beings. Also worth noting that while Bruce has many girlfriends over the years, Catwoman/Selina is his true love in all media. ^^
@LippsReactsАй бұрын
Yay!! Thank you for watching. I have the Arkham games on my radar but I am hungry to get into some of the comics, any recommendations?!
@TheAmazingWebheadАй бұрын
@@LippsReacts in terms of comics, there’s quite a lot but the ones to start with are Batman Year One & The Long Halloween graphic novel. Both had animated film adaptations but those are cool starting off points. ^^ The Arkham games will introduce you to characters from the lore that the movies haven’t use yet and all are iconic that you’ll enjoy.

@8:45 -- if you're a regular cop working a case for the city, you don't invite unauthorized persons (much less a vigilante) into your crime scene or handling evidence or talking (much less threatening) possible witnesses. it's a great way to get all the time spent crossing t's and dotting i's tossed out of court by the judge. @42:50 -- "chain of evidence" is crucial: any hands but authorized hands touching evidence can open up the prosecution to charges of tainting or manufacturing evidence.

It is actually a positive that you don't know actors, it means you see the characters more and a better chance of becoming more fully immersed in the movies. It's actually annoying when reactors feel the need to point out actors and where else they saw them, it shows they aren't immersed in the show.
@LippsReactsАй бұрын
My foggy brain blesses me for this!! The very few moments I’ve recognized an actor definitely do take me out of the immersion as I’m watching. It’s so fun to be fully immersed in a different world and experience

So for those who don't know this film takes lots of inspiration from Batman: Earth One. Fun fact in that comic Penguin was the mayor. Also by the way you should give Batman: Mask of the Phantasm a watch. It's the definitive Batman film Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are brilliant in it. They cemented themselves as the definitive Batman and Joker with their amazing performances.

The actor playing Riddler (Paul Dano) is also great in "Little Miss Sunshine" (2006) A dark comedy about a dysfunctional family on a 2 days road trip from New Mexico to California, trying to get there in time for the younger kid's child beauty pageant. With: Abigail Breslin, Toni Collette, Steve Carell I would love to see your reaction.

Something curious to me in the story of Batman (or at least the stories I have experienced thus far) is that the villain characters often have similar motives to Batman. Or at least In their words they are fighting for the same reasons yet their outcomes and movements are quite different.
