When I think of how rock star should look. I immediately think of Robert Plant. He had the whole package, looks, charisma, intelligence, hair, body and between 68-72 had the best voice in rock ever. It’s untouchable IMO. Greatest frontman from the greatest band.

He was only 24 in 1972. Did his voice decline after that?
@tylertoscano9084 жыл бұрын
John DiMaggio severely. He managed to maintain a voice that was good. But his voice in the first 4 years of zeppelin was unmatched. However, what led to such decline so fast was improper training, constant recording and touring. Lack of rest. So on. He also had nodes on his chords and never was the same after

@tylertoscano9084 жыл бұрын
TIffanyrose Angeles I had acknowledged that I liked his voice post 72. “He managed to maintain a good voice”. Celebration day was fantastic. I’m just saying he would not dare reach his prime because he unfortunately did irreversible damage early on. Especially to his depth and high register.
@jimmyzoso62724 жыл бұрын
As a singer myself I have to agree with you. From 68' to 72', Robert Plant was the best singer in the world. He had a great tone, range, could sing with great distortion or very gently. Unfortunatetly, after 1972 his voice declined for the reasons @Tyler Toscano said. The early days of Zeppelin paved the way for many many rock bands and Plant set the standards of what a rock singer had to be. It is not by mistake that Robert Plant is one of Freddie Mercury's main influences as a rock singer and many consider Freddie the best singer ever. Of course Mercury developed into a different style, more operatic influenced, but the early days of Queen you can see the influences of Plant. In my opinion, no one has yet beaten Plant from that time period, even Mercury. Although music is not a competition.

@Steven Graham False. It's one thing to say that you are the greatest ever (RS). It's quite another when everyone else says it (LZ). Charlie Watts vs. Bonzo? Page vs. Richards? Plant vs. Jagger? JPJ Vs. Ron wood? Yes, it is a competition, and all of the guys above would tell you the same. The stones were good up until about 1970 (the blues and psychedelic era was great for them), around when Brian Jones died. They continued to make absolutely meaningless material after that (it's a double edged sword to survive for so long).
@znuswumriken42134 жыл бұрын
@@lukasrydelius6174 led zeppelin is my favorite band but the stones made sticky fingers, exile on main street, some girls, goats head soup and tattoo you after 1970. All really good and famous albums, some people call sticky fingers and exile on main street their best albums. Also you cant compare single members vs each other. There are really skilled musicians today that are much better at their instruments than any member of led zeppelin but cant make music for shit. Also keep in mind that when the rolling stones member begun learning their instrument there was no one who would play the same music. They helped invent what rock n roll is today and are among the most influential bands of all time.
@lukasrydelius61744 жыл бұрын
Znus Wumriken sure “really good” albums, thats cool. What you said was true, but you didn’t say much besides “the stones are good”, which they are (were). Zep brought RUTHLESS POWER, and TIMELESS sounds that could fool you into thinking the songs were written centuries ago (stairway to heaven, battle of evermore). Zep will bring chills to and through your bones time and time again...The first 3 songs on exile sound the same, i just checked to make sure, it’s good lounge level rock that is good for background music in movies, or when you have a few buddies on your pontoon. Zep is to be studied like beethoven, bach or Mozart, their music should be treated like a pharmaceutical drug with only positive results and no side effects (except a strong opinion!)....You CAN in fact compare individual members, watch this: Bonham vs. ringo starr...are you laughing like I am at that comparison? Good, now we are getting somewhere. Oh, you want to compare the band as a whole? Sure, take any member out of zep and the whole thing falls apart. Lets talk about live shows. Zep broke records for revenue in live shows, that means beattles and stones. Played for 3hrs plus, and remain the all time greatest live band, improv, tight but loose. I know this is all opinion, you have yours and i have mine. But i have been listening to zep, and stones (not so much, got bored with keiths and watts lack of firepower and their one dimensional commercial rock and roll schtick) for many years and I always find myself blown away every time i come back, live material, studio, you name it. And by the way, zep was a 4pc, not 5 and they brought more interesting, original material then the others. Theres a reason people spend more time trying to replicate zeps sound (greta van fleet) than the stones. And when someone does do it, you KNOW it cause of zeps original sound, not the generic rock and roll sound of the stones. And by the way, beattles? We might as well throw nsync and backstreet boys into the conversation cause thats what they were for the 60s, look at their fans 99.9% girls. Men and women both were into zep, cause they had musical depth, not just sex appeal. Bonus material: zep also comes in first place when it comes to stories, legends, folklore. Motorcycles in hotel hallways, shark bits in groupies, drugs, girls, money, success. The epitome of what every band would strive to be after them.
@znuswumriken42134 жыл бұрын
@@lukasrydelius6174 I don't think you understand, zeppelin is among my favorite band. I prefer them over the stones, I even have all of their albums on vinyl but some of your claims are simply not true. Especially the bonus material. The stones were the first rock band as know them today. They were rebels, dirty, used drugs, had long hair, fucked groupies and did insane stuff on their free time, years before jimmy page would even join the yardbirds. Mick jagger popularized the ways of a rock frontman. The way he acted on stage was shocking back then, people would try to beat him up just for the way he danced. He broke down those barriers and now everyone is doing it. If robert plant 70s look wouldnt have been allowed in america if it wasnt for Mick. Also every band in the 60s had mostly females during their shows. Even the beatles (when they still performed on stage) who made some of the best music of all time. Ozzy osbourne and lemmy kilmister were influenced by the beatles and arguably created metal. Neither the beatles or the rolling stones made music for girls only, thats just a dumb statement. I didnt only say that the stones are good either, that is simply not true. Also comparing to drummer who started playing when rock n roll barely existed is not fair. Ringo might not have been the most advanced drummer but together with the other members of the beatles he was one of the most talented musicians ever. Every rock band that ever existed is influenced by the beatles. They kept making perfect albums till they fell apart and even then all of them had really successful solo careers. The music they made between 1965 and 1970 was pure art. Not even zeppelin comes close to the beatles in their prime. They were not extremely skilled on their instruments but they were extremely skilled musicians. Also i find it funny that you say "the generic rock and roll sound of the stones". No one had this sound before them. It wasnt generic at the time it was made.

I was working near the town of Stone, Staffordshire in August 2017. Rumour has it he would be singing with a local band in a small pub that evening. I turned up sceptical that I would see him but he was there. I was in awe to hear him sing in person he has such an aura about him. He had a pint at the bar but I respected his space and didn’t approach him. I did however take a few photos of him on stage, once word got out he was there the people flocked in, it was then I decided to leave. A brief but unforgettable experience for me. Great interview too that seems to avoid too many cliches but of all the interview (and there's lots of great stuff here) the interviewer asks "do you think music can still change the world?" I hung on Plant's response and he came out with a total cracking pearler that really has so much insight "No, I think it's a panacea". Well there you go to all the rock stars that think you can change the world, I mean good on you for trying, but I love Robert's realistic response here. He cites the early blues music as being life changing but thank god someone finally says 'no we're rock stars' not deities. He's so articulate and insightful and love the Being There reference. He definitely mellowed over the years and dropped the ego. Which i always thought was an act anyway. I hope he found inner peace.

Emotion over technique explains where i simply find myself vocally now..and i just continue to saturate myself in music..im getting pretty famous with my friends from dropping obscure tracks that grabs their attention as they grab their tea or coffee in the morning..im still a student of life and Robert has been a beautiful template and mirror for me🍋💎🌞💜🎸🗝🎤🎻🎼🍦🍒

I watched Led Zeppelin play a show on 8/15/1969, in San Antonio Texas. I was sixteen years old. My mom gave me a ride to the auditorium. The band was fantastic, never will i forget that concert.

Robert Plant is fascinating ,his stories about many experiences are amusing. It is the joy of musical bands all over the world that is so interesting to me. He has a natural way of engaging and sharing with others his love of music and is a natural story teller. A true gentle, thoughtful human being. I'm so glad that he has been in the right place at the right time. I will always be grateful for the music in his years with Led Zeppelin, my favorite time in my life. Thank you Robert Plant for all you give for us to appreciate. X

A true musical genius who had the courage to change the course of his infamous band Led Zeppelin, and embark on new genres of music. I rarely get a crush on a musician, but damn it, Robert Plant would make me blush if ever I were to meet him. ☮️🎼❤️

Wow love those sexy hands and that face😘. I last saw Robert perform at Kaaboo in La Jolla CA. Great performance! The band was great! And in many other performances with all of his bands as far back as the "Reunion' with Jason Bonham. Always a pleasure to see you Robert. One of the greatest voices and no doubt...The Greatest Rock Band in the history of Rock n Roll. Thanks for the music and the memories. Look forward to seeing what is next. 💋

I've loved Zep for over 40 years. My wife is a Steiner teacher, I know what Robert's talking about. I had a breakfast chat with JPJs daughetrs once, they were lovely. Cindy was in a band in Bristol when we were just starting with my mate Dan, they were called 'Skintrade,' they weren't together long. I saw a solo performance when she was going through a Sinead phase. She and her sister regilarly attend Sore Finger Summer School, a bluegrass event with their dad sometimes.

Spent a little time with Bobby aka kid rock. One thing I know I can say about him is this he is a fan. He has the deepest respect and devotion to rock artists. He can sit with an acoustic guitar and play all night. And he can really play and sing. Something to see.
