Robert Plant is a musical GENIUS. All of the songwriting he has done (Led Zeppelin of course) and is still doing is unbelievable. This song is proof of that. His music never ceases to amaze me. And he is still as sexy as he was when he was in Led Zeppelin back in the 70's. I'm so glad he is still going strong. We need songwriters and singers like him. We really do.

The first recording of “Little Maggie” was around 1928 by the guitar/fiddle duo of Grayson and Whitter. In 1947 or 1948 Dr. Ralph Stanley and his brother, Carter, cut the song as the Stanley Brothers, and it helped put the duo on the map. Dr. Stanley continued on with a solo career after Carter died in 1966, later recording “Little Maggie” with his Clinch Mountain Boys, and the song continues to be a standard for bluegrass pickers worldwide. It’s been recorded by dozens of acts whose initial exposure to the song was Dr. Stanley’s version. Of course, any traditional song that’s been around for so long is bound to have had a few lyrical changes, and many liberties have been taken over the decades. For instance, Dr. Stanley’s versions open with the verse: Oh yonder stands little Maggie With a dram glass in her hand She’s drinking away her troubles She’s a courting another man But Bob Dylan actually ends the song with that verse (more or less) on the version from his 1992 album of traditional covers, Good As I Been To You. And Dr. Stanley, in fact, didn’t sing the verses in the same order as he and his brother did originally. Many other artists have cut the song as well. Due to its age and differences of opinion over who really wrote it in the first place and when, album credits can vary from recording to recording. Most artists simply list the song as traditional, and credit themselves as being the arrangers. And while at least one website says that this is a PD song, a BMI search found that their records credit Dr. Stanley as the composer. Dr. Ralph Stanley was a national treasure who sang and played what he wanted, period, regardless of who did or didn’t like it. It’s pretty likely that the classic “Little Maggie” will continue to be covered, in one form or another, by those who revere traditional American music and true individuality. Personally, I love Robert Plant's banjo-based, albeit somewhat off the wall, version of the song....

Laura Hammond I hope his ice bucket challenge didn't chill him down. - From a shitless slave region known as the name 'Korea', whose dwellers always steals and begs from Japan's original history which clearly inherited sincere humanity in Ancient Kudara more than its 'original' dwellers in hometown.

The guy is like a fine wine, he just gets better with age! love this even though the vocal line sounds like Chi Mí´n Geamreadh, assume there is a link somewhere back in history. this arrangement is amazing. Chuck it all in, its like WOMAD meeets Celtic Connections Brilliant And they are so loving it! When the band is happy so is the audience. You go guys! Have always loved Mr Plant, even though he nearly drove me into a ditch one day! He´s a better singer than he is driver! Lol! told my mate and he said, "He did that to me too, on exactly the same bend!" haha! Go round a bend in a secluded country lane and there is this wild haired rock legend coming at you head on!| Still "I was killed by Robert Plant " would be a claim to fame of sorts!
