His wife was due to give birth in the New Year, and he rightfully wanted to be there for that & actually have a family Christmas/New Year for a change - he was very upfront with everyone about that, and that he'd be back training ready to fight after his wife n newborn baby we're settled in. Izzy decided he wanted to "stay active" and moved his focus to a Champ-Champ attempt against Jan for the LHW title. Ironically Jan's wife was due around the same timeframe as Rob's was, so Izzy didn't end up fighting Jan until around the time Rob was back available to fight. Izzy lost to Jan, and Rob carried on fighting other MW contenders while waiting for his rematch with Izzy, he had been the clear consensus #1 contender before the Christmas/New Year/New Baby time off, and that didn't change until we finally got the Izzy/Rob rematch we'd waited 5000 years for (yes that was for dramatic effect), and tbf he was still the consensus #1 until Dricus stopped him earlier this year. Let me know if you need anything else cleared up - we can change the language to "scheduling misalignments" if that makes you feel better, but the simple fact is Izzy ended up taking on weaker contenders under the guise of "wanting to stay active", when he very easily could've taken a pause, got realigned with Rob & had the rematch done a lot sooner than they did. The constant scheduling shenanigans and then the unmitigated gall of Izzy & Coach Eugene to say Rob missed his shot & he had to go to the back of the line/get in the pool with the other contenders, that got a lot of the wider fanbase doing that "Huh, whatchu talkin about" meme-face.
