Seeing a Sandhagen-Whittaker video on my homepage is like early Christmas.

Wow, this is like the 5th pro UFC fighter that has come out and publicly praised Robert Whittaker’s skills. Like more than the usual praise fighters give each other. He must REALLY be good!

People make fun of Karate sometimes, but I love Whittaker as his striking style and movement is 100% Karate, Love Topria too, his Striking style is Boxing (the Calf Kicks would be stolen from Karate) .... there are subtle differences in there styles that makes one Boxing and one Karate but both guys are two of the best Strikers in the UFC , Topria much more power than Max Hollaway which makes him better than Max

You're filling a huge gap in the combat sports community being a credentialed fighter and coach SPECIFICALLY for MMA! Love that you're accounting for the small gloves and talking about details nobody else really seems to notice!

Seeing breakdowns of rob fights is always fun because there almost always a sense of admiration for how good rob is. Like the weasels breakdown of the Gastelum fight people are just in awe of an on point rob Whittaker

Cory you're my favorite because you're my favorite student of the game. Bobby Knuckles was my fave getting into MMA and it's not surprising you'd be a fan. I appreciate all the nuance in the breakdowns, it's a treat to have that access to your thought process. Especially that bit about how Rob gets his shots inside others'. This one and Gastelum were awesome showcases of being exactly within the right track on the timing he had to be. Boxing noggins up. Absolutely magnificent hands.

Calling Merab vs Sandhagen for an interim belt right now, they clearly need to fight for a belt and the ufc clearly doesn’t want either as champ
@faithalone508110 ай бұрын
They also know they both beat sean
@MellowStreams10 ай бұрын
Would love Sandhagen as champ . Even Merab is funny.
@philippculture48910 ай бұрын
That's a real possibility because Sean O'Malley wants to fight Ilya Topuria for double champ status. I really hope Chito Vera beats Sean in dominant fashion.

Great breakdown. Whittaker is a such a legend. Like Whittaker Sandhagen has to jump through hoops of fire just to getbone title shot because he too is a respectful martial artist who doesn't put on an act.

Costa obviously does his best work marching forward, heavy on his front leg. Robert made him pay with the calf kick. Costa adjusted by shifting weight to the back leg but then was unable to clear space on the blitz. Simple stuff but done to perfection 👌

Love that he had literally nothing positive to say about Costa 😂

I'd love to see a video specifically addressing the calf kick. I'd like to understand what positioning mistakes create the openings for them, and how to correct or counter them. The calf kick has been notoriously (ha) present in MMA lately, but why?

Whitaker & DDP has such similar styles with the flurry combos. But DDP has more in his locker with the wrestling and efficient kicks.

I thought Rob clearly won . Was surprised to see people saying Costa won . I felt Rob was in Control of the fight other than the wheel kick in the 1st .

So Cory is a massive Jalin Turner and Whittaker fan. Interesting🤔🤔
@ProperCh10 ай бұрын
Something I want to understand is does Robs style not let him do a bunch of combos? In the fight I kept thinking if Rob did his signature jab and followed up with 3 4 more in a combo he couldve put Costa away. But every time he does 1 or 2 punch combos.

Certainly avoiding calf kicks prevents damage over checking, but if you’re always backing up to avoid the kick, aren’t you just getting predictable? As you know, can’t attack or counter when you’re backing up

Love seeing Rob fighting, his chin is a little sus, but his technique is amazing to watch. I think his fight are won or lost based on if he can keep moving forward.
@patricknez725810 ай бұрын
Dude you should just duck under the wheel kick. That way if they throw the spinning back kick instead, it only hits you in the face.
@letmegetuhhh395910 ай бұрын
Ducking is scary tho cause if he goes to the body you just gave him your face lmao

Its MMA so everything is trained but man everything he Shows is Karate movement, at least the Karate I leaned in the 1980s and 1990s ... yet people will make fun of Karate sometimes

Not being a fighter I can’t see what is good about hobbit Whitaker. He seems to just do the same one punch over and over
@mishaarthur768910 ай бұрын
If that's how you see it, think of it as: he's fought all the best fighters in his division for a decade, and won most of his fights with "one punch over and over" The best fighters in the world know how he fights, and have rarely been able to stop him - because he is extremely good
@letmegetuhhh395910 ай бұрын
If i can land the same punches on a guy over and over that means im setting it up well and he can’t stop it even if he knows what i want. That’s high level.
