It's easy to look amazing when fighting another guy who doesn't want to go in too much. Fighting someone that is a finisher is it completely different story, if both guys look gray NFI and evenly matched usually that means that both are fighting to not lose versus fighting to win. Just my 2c.

Think about how long this man has been a top 5 middleweight. Most guys who reach the top dont stick around at the top this long. They start taking Ls and before you know it you look like Tony Ferguson. Whittaker really is a different breed of fighter. Has taken his Ls but never back to back. Always finds a way to shake off the loss and look super impressive in the next performance.

Why is he popular? Class. He actually fights and fights well when in the ring, understanding that is why fans watch and pay. Oft-times even when he would be better served with a less damage risk approach. He is well spoken and his "trash talk" is an honest/genuine expression of his assessment, so when he lets a zinger out there it has some impact. Look forward to seeing a rematch with DDP, a fight with Strickland, or even some un-defeated up and comer. Stay Healthy.
