I have a 4 months old puppy that I train with the help of ppl like you giving free advise . Thank you . I am so proud of him, went to canadian tire and home depot and I came out in tears of happiness. Never been so proud in my life , he was listening to me and following my commands. One employee told to his colleague “ This dog is smarter than you “😂 They were making fun of each other but today my hard work was paid off. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and helping simple folks like me .

Rewarding a dog for things he does without your cue is called 'training my owner to feed me on demand'. So many times have I nearly fallen for that one!

I attempted to train my 6 month old at the time to slap a little cashier bell when it had to go outside. She picked it up really quickly, and I thought I was quite the little genius. Then she decided to spend the day slapping the bell over and over and looking at me and then the treat jar, and then back to slapping the bell when I wouldn't treat her. So I had to change the reward to just going outside with a potty command...same problem though, she would just ring the bell and go outside and sniff around but no potty. She's a beagle/daschund mix so sniffing around is like candy to her lol. I had no idea how to correctly train with a bell, but it seemed rather straight forward at the time...clearly I'll have to rethink my plan though lol.

I get the feeling that people don't understand how much the owner's own emotions are translated so easily or rather 'read' so easily by their dogs! Want control of communication with your dog, you gotta get control of your own emotions!

Most dog kennels come with an extra panel exactly for the purpose to make the space smaller for puppies! If my dogs get thirsty they have to let us know and we let them out one at a time to get a good drink. We feed them in the kennel at night, as soon as they are done that food is removed. They have a safe place! I used to crawl in ONE kennel with both puppies and cuddle. I know I am weird but I wanted them to LOVE their kennel, their space.

Following you for over a year. Very helpful in training my Basset Hound. He doesn’t have as much drive as your dogs but has been extremely helpful in basic training. Crate training and fetch we learned watching your videos. Thank you!

My puppy didn't understand my cue for 'down' for ages. Going back to Rob's videos half a dozen times and watching very very carefully really started to help. What really cracked it though was standing alongside the dog facing the same direction when giving the request. When facing him he couldn't help thinkingmy body language meant 'sit' despite this wired new noise my mouth was making. I've been using a whistle, hand gestures and spoken words. My partner's voice doesn't carry and we walk at the beach a lot which is noisy, so a whistle is going to help. Trouble is, too many alternatives to the verbal cue and the dog starts thinking 'down' is just another word for 'sit'! We are both slowly learning!

I like your videos Robert :-) I love that you are straight forward and honest when you are answering people questions ! Although, I do not have a young puppy (my dog is almost 2 years old), but I do enjoy to hear you talking about many various subjects and I always find technics and tricks in your sayings that I can adapt to my dog if I do come across some behaviors that I want to redirect into something else. I have had a great malinois who died dramatically, 5 year ago. I am now a super team with an amazing Italian Greyhound. Needless to say that, he is REALLY well manners and have been a charm to train since day 1. VERY VERY VERY different than my malinois (dah!). lol I am happy I had my malinois before to teach me great PATIENCE, CONSISTENCY AND STRUCTURE with a dog. Lets just say that, my IG is always tired at the end of the day! lol Tired dog=happy dog :-) I also like to see you interacting with your own dogs! When they show up when your are filming, just on the corner of the screen or to say hi, licking half of your face, it always makes me smile :-) Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge Robert ! Millions thumbs up ! :-)

I am just a regular dog owner I got an older, calm and sweet dog from shelter because I felt like a beginner and wasn´t ready for an active working dog... So I can´t BELIEVE why some people buy a dog when they don´t know anything about their behavior. Some of those questions were a bit alarming...

Hey Robert, have been following you for a while now, and your techniques are really informative. We plan to add a dog to our family sometime later this year. Would you happen to have any tips for dog owners who live in apartments? I think that would be an interesting topic for you to cover in one of your videos

Great stuff. Our shepherd lab puppy is 6 months old and big baby beast at 60+lbs. We’ve done a lot of things but not everything. I’m sure he needs to be crated more than he has been but he has SO much energy! Love your videos, Robert! Danke schön!

Hi Robert - Awesome videos! Love the content. You mentioned to not let your dogs on the bed or furniture until at least age 1. Why is that? Can you go into further detail? Thank you so much.

Hi Robert, Could you give me some advice on my puppy getting car sick. We have been doing short trips to the store but my female german shepherd is still getting car sick. I have had her in the crate this didn't help, so I held her in the front seat so she could look out the window she almost made it but she still was sick. Is there anything I can give her before we go in the car?

I am getting a Giant Schnauzer @ 10 weeks soon. Should I not let him grow into his crate? As in should I buy a small crate while he’s 0-6 months and upgrade as he grows? Thank you Robert, if you see this you are very appreciated.

I've got a Malinois/German Sheperd Mix puppy that I think I got a little bit too early (he's five weeks old. He was free because his breeder said he wanted to get rid of him). I dont want to push him too hard because he's so young, but he CHOMPS at me and when corrected he will snarl a bit. Should I wait a couple more weeks to start curbing his behavior? I dont want to traumatize him, but he bites WAY too hard and I would appreciate some suggestions.
