When I got my Pomeranian, 'play dead' was one of the tricks I knew I wanted to teach him. I had very little trick training experience -- not much beyond sit, lie down, stay. I bought some books about training and started working with him. It actually worked! I taught him 'bang, you're dead' within a relatively short period of time. Also my pom demonstrated an inventive side to his personality that I didn't expect. All on his own, when I cued him with 'bang', he added a twirl before flopping on his side 'dead'. Poms may be small, fluffy and yappy, but are pretty darned smart too. 😁

This is my Ka-Bar ‘s #1. I actually was trying to get him to sit pretty, and he played dead, so I ran with it. Bang bang, and he launches himself and writhes as if in agony and gives little screetches for added effects. All for a ball 🤣

Tried this with my pit/Shepherd mix. It terrified him. Can't get him to roll over, either. He'll do anything else for a treat and learns super fast. Not sure why "bang" was scary to him 🤷‍♀️

GAHHH! I love this trainer so much, I even bought his courses, but IT IS SO FRUSTRATING when trainers use dogs that have already been taught or even 'free shaped', in whatever the vid is about . I thought I had the only min pin in the world with actual rocks for brains. He did everything EXCEPT roll over. He did not just casually lay there and on the SECOND 'bang', complete the trick. it took us four, 10 min sessions until I got the full roll over. Watching already trained dogs had me, personally, feeling comically incompetent and a little sorry for my poor dog.

@@margaretmeaker2830 Don't get me wrong, I love Roberts tutorials and that he shows that something can go wrong and how to make it right. Also, english isn't my first language so sorry if it'll be a little crocked - I teached mine to play dead by turning his head to his back, not to the ground. When I turn his head like that, he's automatically lying on his side.
