Hi Robert. Love all your videos! Sorry to hear about Diane. May I ask, re the ECU. I have a 1994 T5 so can't get an ECU from the same year can I. So can I just get one from any year and can you explain the "emissions codes". I do not understand what you mean by this. Cheers
@RobertDIY2 жыл бұрын
The vehicle should have EGR and the pipe that goes around the head, intake to exhaust manifold. Any T5 or R ecu from a '94 or '95 should be plug and play. You can likely use an ECU from a '96 or '97. They may toss a code if the emissions system is different.

Robert - a great video! A couple of questions: I have a 1999 V70 xc with the low pressure turbo (13T, I believe) and I live in northern Minnesota. Would a 3" downpipe upgrade work on the 13T turbo, or is that turbo restricted by the exhaust flange? Second, although I don't live in the artic circle, I do live in a colder climate. Would you still recommend the RIP kit upgrade, or would that result in the same throttle body freezing that caused Volvo to change the setup in the first place. Thanks as always for great videos!
@RobertDIY2 жыл бұрын
A RIP kit can get rid of old soft pressure tubes. You can also replace those tubes with new silicone hoses.

I don't think a LPT will benefit from a 3" down pipe.

Depending on what all needs done to my p80 v70xc, I may decide to part it out. That being said, do you know if the downpipe and rip tube from the v70 will work on an 01 S60? Rip tube appears to have different connecting points, but I'm unsure as to the downpipe.

hi robert i have a question regarding the computer in lets say a Non turbo 850/v70 p80 if i have a 2.0 liter engine and lets say i swap in a computer from a 2.4/2.5 liter engine would that in theory increase any sort of performance at all in a 2.0 liter engine ? or would i have to take into consideration that those computers might have traction controll and such ?
@RobertDIY2 жыл бұрын
My guess is the only thing that it would do is cause the vehicle to run rich. Don't fuel down the catalytic converter and probably destroy that. To increase power you have to increase air and fuel, I'm not sure the computer can do that.
@SimRacer962 жыл бұрын
@@RobertDIY would the car not relearn somehow maybe possibly if you place one in and turn it on and let it go through a couple phases like a normal drive / a pull to see if it would make any difference, anyhow it would be an experiment for sure to try that since it works on turbo cars but then again turbo cars have turbos so.. but if a non turbo car can gain some kind of fuel and possibly some more air and demand of park then theoreticly it should somehow gain 10-20 hp thats just my theory but could also be bad you never know untill you try it hehe

@@BillionaireMinds777 You can’t go very far with a GLT. It has a low pressure turbo, with a higher compression engine. On my GLT, after it burnt a valve. I put a turbo head on, to lower the compression ratio. So it can handle white injectors, a slightly bigger turbo, and a T5 ecu. Bringing it up to the equivalent, of a T5. The rods in a GLT, (or LPT engine), are not strong. Most of them already have a lot of mileage. So don’t push it too hard.
