This is the BEST tutorial I found. He covered EVERYTHING from the owner's manual to practical driving tips and precautions to monitor vehicle status to not strain the engine. I'm 72 yo single woman, and this tutorial gave me the confidence to move myself. Thanks for your video.

I like you going into detail in everyday language. Especially like the reminder about locking up the chains and back door. You saying the strain on the tow vehicle is helpful too. Plus commenting about tire pressure. Sure don't need a flat on the trip ! All the best, Pete

Thank you for taking the time to record and post this video! My bf and I are moving over 1,000 miles away in a couple of months and I will be towing a U-Haul trailer with my car for the first time. Your video was exactly what I was looking for with information on towing a trailer. Everything you explained was completely clear and I really appreciate that!

This was so thorough and informative. So much so that I think I've talked myself out of it, lol. I'm either going to rent their van or purge and take only what I can fit in my car. I'm traveling less than 500 miles but I've gotta go through curvy mountain roads, construction, and such and I'm just not that comfortable. Thanks for the information!

Great video but I noticed you didn’t mention anything about the leveling of the trailer and making sure the ball mount is a drop, level or rise. Very important to try and get the trailer as level as possible to make for a more controlled tow 😀

The tow rating in the owners manual is merely a recommendation. Some cars can tow a lot more, some cars can’t tow anywhere near the recommendation. If you go by the manual most large pickups can not tow this trailer at gross capacity since they don’t have brakes. State law governs what you can and can not tow not the owners manual. Most states limit you to 3000 lbs with a trailer that does not have brakes. You also need 10% tongue weight and you can not exceed the rear axel capacity of the tow vehicle. Great info.

I am concered about the security of the trailer. Do people disconnect the trailer and steal it when you are sleeping at a hotel? What to do to prevent? I will be going coast to coast and dont want to get my stuff stolen. Also, what if they break the lock in the back?
@RobertDIY Жыл бұрын
I've never had one broken into. Avoid staying in Albuquerque, they steal everything to there. I usually lock the trailer chains to the tow hitch.

Hey, do you remember how big the bolt is that goes into the latch? Thanks
@RobertDIY3 жыл бұрын
If it's not in the description I have no idea. It doesn't matter if it's strong or not, just holding a little latch. M7 or M8 would work find.

I built a better trailer light converter using standard relays, to convert the euro style separate brake, running and turn signals to the American combined style for trailers. The video is here along with a wiring diagram. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZKbgpmhrJymo5Y at the 5:46 mark. It saved money and lasts a lot longer.

Hi! My Volo 850 -97 non-turbo is acting very weird, when it's cold it starts normally, idles smooth, has good throttle response until the car reaches operating temperature. Then the RPMs starts to stutter and if I give it more than just a little gas, it stalls. It also doesn't start up after, I have to wait until it cools down again. This happened once when I was out for a ride, I managed to keep the car from stalling by shifting down and keeping the RPMs above 3000. It went away after about 5-7 minutes of driving on higher RPMs. Can it be a bad temperature sensor that keeps the engine running with extra fuel? The temperature sensor on the dash works as it should though.

Any engine codes???
@enfuzzygamer49874 жыл бұрын
@@bernardaflores1720 I unfortunately haven’t checked that in a while, but before, when I took it for a ride and it happend, the only code was for an oxygen sensor, that code is old tho, it has run good with that code. I also cleaned a bunch of parts for the ignition system and the IAC valve, gonna put it back tomorrow and see if it fixes it and I will also check for codes. I’ll post what I find
