Hi Robert I noticed your coil wire is kinda loose.try wrapping it a little tighter around the shaft above your coil it could give you false hits and interfere with your signals..

I definitely recommend using headphones with the 900. It’s hard to hear those faint low tones next to the waves without them.

That thing you think is a pen looks like a ferro rod take a knife and slide the knife against the rod and see if sparks come off it if it does boom you got a fire starter if not you got a pen 🤷🏼‍♂️
