Very interesting comparison. It looks like the Kodak Gold is the preferable film for these conditions. I used to shoot quite a lot of Fuji 400H a long time ago but not much for nature images.

The film colors look beautiful, but I guess one can find film simulations via some plugins that imitate both the color profile of the film and the grain (if wanted). Maybe not 100% identical, but comparable. I also have the impression that the color temperature of the mamiya (regardless of the readings) is way cooler than in the Gfx.Did you set the color temperature manually? Generally the Fujis tend to set it on the cool side with Auto WB.

@@bernios3446 I think the fuji pro400h is a very cool and a bit strange film. I got more similar results recently with Portra 400 and GFX. Very close out of the box.
@bernios3446Ай бұрын
@ did you try if the Provia simulation? Plus, cooing down the WB may also bring you closer to the film results. But I am just asking, I am not claiming your findings are wrong.
@RH-adventureАй бұрын
@@bernios3446 Yes I tried a lot of stuff. You have to tweak one color at a time to get a bit closer.

The weird thing is that I'm in Florida and love the landscapes in your videos. Cool and crisp. Lovely forests. I haven't worn a sweater in 15 years. But yours looks so good I think I'd buy one.

An Icelandic sweater might get a bit itchy in the Florida heat. But you could always wear it if you go to Scandinavia👍

The color separation and the fullness of contours make film so appealing...and yet the problem isn't solved entirely once scanning gets in the way with it's own ambivalent issues...

I think you can achieve a similar look as the Mamiya 6 with the GFX. Film is essentially a Jpeg that requires correction after scanning, while the GFX colors are more ‘flat’ and designed to be edited. If edited I think these would be far closer than sooc. Also as far as lens choices, the metabones V-GFX lets me use hasselblad 6x6 lenses, and utilize their full image circle on the 44x33 GFX. Really delivers on the ‘look’
@RH-adventureАй бұрын
@@MrMacroJesseSky You are right. It requires some serious skill though. But a lot closer for sure.

@ yes you do. All film needs correction, slide film being the exception, and even then tweaks are not uncommon (at least if you’re scanning and not using an enlarger)

I think its a bit off wb colours on Fuji, because its too yellowish, like 6000+ Kelvins...I believe that its possible to achieve these 400H colours and separation, even in jpg SOOC by using Velvia or Astia simulation with WB on Auto: R0 B0, shadows: +2, highlights: +0.5, Colour: +1....Oh i'm so into these Fuji sims, forgive my nerdness;-)
@RH-adventureАй бұрын
@@BadlonMondo I love the sims too. I shot it daylight balanced at 5600k. I tried going down to 4000 and it gets a bit closer but overall to blue. Something else is happening with those chemicals.
@ulyssesnathanialowen3831Ай бұрын
you are not comparing the fuji to the mamiya. the mamiya is just a light box it has. o effect on the image . what you are doing is comparing the Fuji against the film and the mamiya lens !!!
@RH-adventureАй бұрын
@@ulyssesnathanialowen3831 Thats right, it’s a film vs digital comparison mostly. Also a bit sensor size vs negative size. And how it is to use either camera.
