Speaking of other artists, there is only about 4 that I find worthy of study. You, Robert are in the top 2. I learn so much from you and I thank you for that. 🇺🇸

Thanks for this video Rob. As always, I enjoyed it like all your videos. Keep them coming, they are a great help. I also wanted to say in regards to what you said at the beginning of the video about not making characters bubbly because shadows curve and crease in different directions. I think this is due to the fact that these creases are created by the form of the muscle. Light brings out form so these little creases and curves you were referring to is the form and shape of the muscle. I'm not trying to correct you or be a smart ass. I'm just telling you what I believe those creases and jagged edges are based on what I've learned. Anyway, thanks again for the video, keep em coming and keep drawing. :D
@RobertMarzullo9 жыл бұрын
+SnakeEater871 You are exactly right on that. It is the shapes of the muscles and the way they flow into one another or bulge out that creates those shapes of shadows. I don't mind being corrected from time to time. I am still learning as well. :) Thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave an informative comment. More on the way real soon!

Hey, Rob, I know that this is a stupid request but can you maybe in the future do a more in depth video about the forearm. I've been having a lot of trouble with the muscle groups. I watched your forearm video and it helped a lot, but I'm still confused about how and where the muscles connect with another and how they look from a different view. All artist have their own forearm style (as weird as it sounds) like Jim Lee. He has a very detailed forearm and that's how I'd like to draw them.You don't have to do a Jim Lee forearm or a Todd Mcfarlane one, I'm just trying to understand it better and I learned so much from your previous one. Hope you see this and consider this idea and make a video about it. P.s. Love your work, keep the tutorials coming :)

Did you do a lot of life drawing. like, drawing figures from real life models and such? Cause, i hear that it's pretty important, but i don't have access to such facilites and similar.....The only thing i have is my laptop, as a learning tool. I don't plan on doing anything super fancy like paintings and super realistic people and whatnot.....just wanna illustrate my stories with a comic book (and a bit of manga) look to them. Do i really need life drawing experience for that? Or is learning from photos, books and other artwork good enough?
@RobertMarzullo9 жыл бұрын
+Xandredarium You can study like drawing from a photo. Some other artist would disagree but I have never done actual life drawing. There are even sites where the photo will only stay up for a minute or two so you are forced to draw a quick gesture. ( Which I feel is a highly important exercise to do! ) The main thing is to recognize when the body looks a certain way for a certain type of illustration. For instance, I use UFC and Boxing shots for my fight scenes. I use dancing for my women in action scenes, Running photos for well......uh, running! But when you study these various actions you start to learn things about the body. And you can apply lots of style to that work and make a great comic. Good luck to you and thanks for watching!
@xandredarium42099 жыл бұрын
+Robert Marzullo Thanks! I was really having some confidence issues, was not sure i could achieve my goal cause i don't have access to such things.....And yeah, i do gesture drawing practices, either from sites like posemaniacs, or from photos and artwork that really caught my eye.

So is the crosshatch suppose to define the shape of an anatomy or is it it meant to go towards the light source

hi, nice tutorial! which brush do you use for the shading? mine in mangastudio doesn't look like that-pencil realistic. maybe there's some configuration that I should use?

Real people are often more like 7 1/2 heads tall. Superhumans? 8 heads. It's a general rule of superhero comics. Because superheroes are larger than life, literally.

Nice, heavy, solid dudes - really see the weight of these 275 lb guys! I would like to see (especially since you can erase) a version less timid. If I squint its all gray. Contrast of heavy black, a bit of gray, and heavy light.
