I always knew about the Nurburgring, but for this Australian, I always think of Sabine Sshmitz hooning around in a Van trying to beat 10 minutes... that episode of Top Gear was when I found out that the Ring was a public road that was still open and used in the way it is. So the Nurburgring to me is Sabine Schmidz... RIP Sabine.

Robert, you literally have the "kid-with-new-and-exciting-toy" face :))). You can really tell how much you are enjoying the car and you passed on the vibe but also the nostalgia as I got carried away into remembering a 19 year old boy, having a blast in his Golf GTI MK3 (loved that car and ... by the looks of it, I still do :), although it is long gone). Btw, one other thing that came to my mind watching the video is that you would make the perfect (retro) car commercial for BMW, with the "sheer driving pleasure" slogan :). Man, it does feel like we will never go back to this simpler times of being able to enjoy a ride, in a cool car, without feeling the need to be the fastest man on earth :P.

For me the Nurburgring is #1 - The track where Robert Mitchell drove a Porsche GT4RS at 200mph while lovingly admonishing his 4 year old daughter for putting her feet on the dash. I'll never forget this for the rest of my life. (Pullleease, no need to correct the details.) 😆

I agree: I'm from Belgium and drive the ring now more than 10 years and hundreds of laps: sometimes slow, sometimes fast, sometimes drifting, but never ever have I timed my laps during TF. Still enjoy it most in life after so many years!

Both times I have been to Germany, I loved driving the back "B" roads. The Nurburgring looks like a fantastic rural road without the slow distracted traffic with no chance to pass.

Hi Robert, wanted to share my story about the Nürburgring. I loved it so mutch, it's now one of my favorite track in the world. It used to be spa. 😀 And exactly what you are doing is what i did the first time. Just feeling the track and road. I did in my BMW 120d M pack. Carbon bleu color and it had a stage 1 tuning. Then Did it for my second time in 9m25.318. i loved it. Also talking too so many People in track and sharing the experience and stories. I have you say thank you for your sharing story on youtube. Happy to see the M3 on the ring. Back in 2002, when i got my first car, i went to my first E34 Ringtreffen. I never was a big car guy. The ring changed everything, just as you two discribed, the passion about a common interest is so visible and lived. It's accessible to everyone and you feel that you quickly become part of a big family of car enthusiasts. Together with the E34 car community, the ring has had a its part in adding some "Benzin im Blut".

For me the Nürburgring is a place where you can breath, see and feel the passion that comes with a car. its not only about moving from a to b, its about freedom (specially for me as a handicapped) and being able to expierence your own car on a track that were driven by all of your childhood reallife heroes...it´s a special place and you can literally feel it when you are nearby...

Finally a lap in the M3 E30! Iv´e been waiting. One of my absolute dream cars. I pulled the trigger to buy my own classic (Supra MK4) about 1,5 years ago and came to stay at Apex last year for the first time driving myself on the track. As a now older gent with an old car, laptimes are really not what i aim for. Thats why i really enjoyed watching this lap with you, Misha and that stunning E30 M3. I really hope i get a chance to join you for a lap with our cars and maybe even a chat over a cup of coffee after. That´s what the Norschleife experiance is about for me, meeting cool/likeminded people to share our passion, And to do it at our dream destination makes it so very special. Thanks for taking us on this lap! Slow laps really give you another view on the Ring. Honestly my favourite laps the last years always have been the laps when checking the track was clear again after Rad am Ring fridays time trials. Sounds weird but driving slow shows you how much elevation etc. there really is.

Because of you guys' videos, keep being reminded how much I miss Nürburgring since last season, so today totally spontaneously drove 4 hours to Nürburg and managed to do a couple of laps at the end of the day. At some point saw you Robert in the GT2RS going towards the track, and then stopped at Apex to chat with the guys there who were shooting the M3. This just to say your content literally makes people just get up and drive to Nürburg, totally unplanned ! Next time I'm staying at the hotel.

It was almost 25 years ago that I did a couple of laps on a motorcycle, and I felt lost and somewhat intimidated. You made a lot of good points there. For me the Nuerburgring is the safest country road in the world. I can drive free, with mostly no speed limit, and when I overtake someone else I don't have to worry about oncoming traffic. Also if I crash, I can be sure not to end up in a german oak tree but in a friendly peace of armco. Took my sister on al relaxed lap in my old 316i at beginning of march so I really get and like the "just cruising" sentiment. :) Thanks for the nice Video.

My mom still has a BMW E30 convertible. I really like that car, but it's getting old and it's getting tricky to get it serviced properly. Especially problems with the roof just take you on a long search for proper service.

Funny thing is that the E30M3 S14 is a slow car, dont get me wrong, is slow but you can drive it fast, that i love so much. Sold my own 2 years ago, no not regretting it :), but that feeling when driving that car is so hard to find in other cars. Thats a shame, really. For me the feeling when driving the E30M3 and knowing its past and what i did for racing was a bit of overwelming and filled your mind with a big portion of gratitude and humblenes :) Cruising the E30 is good but the exiting things happens when you realise how fast you can take corners with it :D

Nurburgring is for me where I feel Home outside Home. I feel free from my daily stress and problems. 2019 Was amazing staying at Apex in February and do the track by foot. Foxhole was such an experience, impressive to see the where you came from and where you are going over 200 in a little hothatch. I tryed other racetracks but not one of them gave the feeling of beeing in a special place

Robert you mention enjoying the wonderful 'Ring with customers and friends from Europe and the UK. How can us UK people protect our vehicles (and wallet) on track? Is there an effective insurance cover available? Do any of the policies cover 3rd party damage, say if you hit another vehicle or have an oil leak and cause a crash or multiple crashes? Are any of these policies resonably priced for a modest value vehicle and someone without deep pockets? Like cars worth less than £10k and not wanting to spend up to 10% of the value on insurance. Hiring a car for a lap comes with cover, but how can we enjoy it in our own vehicles without gambling with no insurance cover? I think this would be a good thing to discuss on your channel at some point, maybe expand this out to other European countries too as although the UK seems to have a big showing at the track, we're hardly the only nation to visit the track regularly. Loving the M3 and wonderful to see it on track at last :D

Yes finally the E30 M3 is on the street. Robert I hope you get used to that dog leg gearbox. Remember that 1st gear is left and back.......where 2nd normally would be. No more money $hifts pls lolol 😅
