Somewhere over the Rainbow by Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs. Greatest Aussie pop song ever. It still gives me goosebumps 55 years later. Billy had a superb voice. I'll luv you forever Billy. Douglas.

I'll tell you how I acquired a copy of the "Over The Rainbow" single. I was a young kid and my Mum had the radio tuned to 2GB on the AM band. N0 FM in those days. A competition was held and the first person to dial in and answer correctly would win a copy of "Over The rainbow", Billy's latest release, The question was, " Name Del Shannon's second hit". My Mum was in some kind of shock to hear my voice over the radio correctly answer that question, my winning answer being "Hats Off To Larry".

I saw this concert 4 times and it was the best one I've ever been to and I've been to hundreds of them. Needless to say I've always been a massive Billy Thorpe fan and like thousands of other fans was totally devastated when he passed away. Thankfully he left us all a great legacy, his music, which will forever stay in my heart. LWTTT 2012 concert was just not the same without Billy but I guess he's busy being the front man in Australia's Rock 'n' Roll Heaven Band and welcoming other great Aussie artists that have since passed on too.....Keep Rockin' ♥♥♥

The biggest delight of this show was the inclusion of Stevie Wright, the lead singer of the Easybeats from the '60s. His fans never expected that they would see him again, because of his well known health issues. It was awesome seeing him receive the love and respect, he so deserved, for the amazing entertainment he had provided our generation of Aussies.

I just love this clip. I saw Billy many times over the years starting from 1965 and was a regular at his TV show It's All Happening in 1966. I went to a lot of events and concerts after that. I was at his Sydney show of Long Way To the Top. What a great show this was. My last time was his funeral at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. What a sad but celebratory day that was. RIP Billy. You will never be forgotten 🌹 🎼 🎤

I loved Billy Thorpe. Especially Poison Ivy. I changed Ivy to Ivan. In the bath of course. I always heard the threat, "I am gunna hit her this time Mum." It didn't go down well at all with Mum. I couldn't help myself. Thanks Billy for that memory.
