The great thing about Roberto Bolle is that despite him not being the most athletic dancer (doesn’t jump the highest or spin the fastest etc), he is most certainly one of the most artistically sensitive, graceful dancers on stage, which is even more impressed by his overreaching height which would’ve been an impediment to most dancers. He is an exemplary in displaying the ARTIST. Definitely one of the greats of all time.

There is so much that is superb about Bolle - possibly the finest male dancer since Baryshnikov stopped dancing. The marathon Prince Desiree solo belongs to Bolle - he OWNS it, and is such a joy to watch.

Catalina Jinhee Noh These six variations show Roberto doing what he does best. He moves with such ease, never 'over dancing'' and he simply hangs in the air for the longest time, but at the same time is so fluent, fluid, he just makes it all look so beautfiul and elegant, it looks almost easy when you see him dance. This of course is what singles the great dancer from the 'nearly great' - nothing looks difficult, but we know that no part of it is easy. Personally I think the Sleeping Beauty Variation which is notoriously difficult and long, is possibly my absolute favourite piece of all - although it was the Aminta variation that actually introduced me to Roberto quite a few years ago now at ROH. I simply couldnt believe what I was seeing :) Enjoy the rest of the channel - Roberto is waiting to entertain you :)))

Roberto is quite perfect - an emblem of clean lines and phrasing. One thing that has not worn well with me is Nureyev's choreography - excessively fussy , like a neurotic version of Macmillan..
@blueraspberry95178 жыл бұрын
Sometimes lets face it, Nureyev's choreography was a tool to show himself off, and I am almost certain he thought he had made it so difficult that nobody else (at that time probably more true than today) would be able to dance it with any degree of perfection. Today's dancers however with all the advantages of diet, training conditions, and such are able to jump higher, spin faster, balance longer, they are more flexible and I concede more artistic too. But Nureyev set the standard that they all want to take as the 'norm' these days.
@radiantonion86158 жыл бұрын
Well he definitely set a standard but I would have to say with regards to his choreography it isn't graceful or flowing or attractive - just hard. His solo passages in Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty have become land marks for male dancing but I wish someone would come up with better versions.....my opinion for what it's worth, and like rear ends everyone has one..lol..
@blueraspberry95178 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen the Ratmansky version yet - and I am pretty sure that Roberto wont be dancing it either - or the Sleeping Beauty, but there are rave reviews about it/them mostly, although to me ballet is about pointe work - classical pointe work, and I understand that the majority of both are danced demi pointe, my heart sank when I heard that - but I don't spose it should until I have seen it :)

Once Upon a Time I was visiting Paris back in the 1970's. I was getting restless and paid for a day at the Gym. I saw these two guys doing a lot kicks and turns and leaps and I thought they were doing Savate. Turns out they were Danseurs from the Paris Opera House. So we talked for a while they asked me a lot of questions about Karate and the training regimens etc. we really made a connection then I asked them do you guys get to date the Ballerinas and they said no the Ballerinas know how much we make. Wonder if that's an impediment for Robert Bolle?

Hello - Wonderful dancing. But please never wink at the audience in a special feature on a dancer. It is cheap and common. Rather keep a classy distance. Dancing is a transcendental thing and should be kept on an elevated level. Be professional. Thank you. - DrD

Roberto è bravo fa tutto benissimo....ma c'è qualcosa che non quadra: mi aiutate a capire cosa?????
@blueraspberry95174 жыл бұрын
There are countless adjectives I could use to try and help you understand what it is that makes everything Roberto does speak to me like no other dancer does, but in truth I cannot explain it. I can only feel it, and see it, and connect with it. I guess that Art is subjective, and that for each of us it is a personal thing, and perhaps in analysing it, we lose part of what it is that touches us. 😊
@martinlewis15832 жыл бұрын
@pliplud15692 жыл бұрын
È perfetto. Ma non ha un briciolo di magnetismo. Baryshnikov e Nureyev ti inchiodavano alla sedia anche quando stavano fermi
