Manchester City's debut season in the Champions League didn't go according to plan as they crashed out in the group stage and it was mostly remembered for Carlos Tevez refusing to play against Bayern Munich. Finding themselves 2-0 at the Allianz Arena, Roberto Mancini tried to use Tevez as a second half sub but the Argentine didn't want to come on. Mancini said Tevez would never play for City again but he returned after a 6 month exile and helped the club as they went on to win their first Premier League title.

@@evanhughes1275 England lost because they were too timid with their tactics. How did they possibly think they could protect a one-goal lead for 90 minutes against that Italy side?
@vittoriodelfato2260
@vittoriodelfato2260 2 жыл бұрын
@sum ting wong England played better in previous games. In the final Southgate looked frightend by italian play. He started with a specific tactic that was good for 20-25 minutes. When Mancini made changes, Italy started to dominate the ball possession and shots. Statistics don't lie. Southgate did not do any change till 119' when he put in two cold players for the penalties. Very bad decision.
@fromthefountofyouth
@fromthefountofyouth 2 жыл бұрын
@sum ting wong England had way more quality. Had Southgate played more expansively, they would likely have won. Even his choice of penalty takers showed his timidity; he was of the belief that forwards make the best penalty kick takers but that isn't necessarily true as we all later saw. For example, in the Liverpool team, Milner, Fabinho, Thiago and Trent will take penalties ahead of Mane. Keep in mind that 2 of the 5 hardly played during the tournament and even more especially in that particular game. Southgate had way more quality than he knew what to do with, hopefully before next year he would have improved on his tactical nous and game management otherwise he will be obliterated.

@@pereiraplaza222 He most likely will be. But it all depends on Sterling and Kane. If they eat well, have the energy, and are in good mood to cheat like usual, then Italy might lose. Sterling will be all over the place with his legs, trying to run in the path of his opponent so he can pretend he was tripped, doing his his best to make it happen in the penalty area; and Kane will fall whenever he is surrounded or outrun. If we are lucky, they'll at least solve racism with their kneeling.

He is the Only Manager in the Game who cold character and he is very calm whatever happens. That's one reason of success like : Lopanoveski and Phil Jackson in NBA ... These managers were calm and successful....calmness shows usually no surprise.

Ferguson had a chance to sign him permanently and turned it down- always wondered. Tevez wanted to stay and he had massive talent. But he would never let this kind of thing happen at United in that era. Gary Neville questioned his attitude at United on Sky during lockdown and Joorabchian come on to fight his corner for him! I thought it was telling that Tevez didn't fight his own battle there. Great player, bit childish and sulky.
