One of the best performances, perhaps the only one to come close to a proper balance between the three soloists. Great sense of tone color.

In my opinion Frank Martins best work. It is one of the greatest pieces of music in the 20th century. It is n a place all by itself.

Une des rares pièces du répertoire (partiellement) atonal qui a le mérite de séduire dès la première écoute, et de ne jamais lasser par la suite

It is melodic and not really atonal at all. It is tonal in its own way. His music often reminds of either Hindemith or Debussy.

Extraordinary performance of a piece of genius. The violinist at 7 minutes in makes his instrument sing like something out of this world. Great energy and sensitivity throughout. Bravura!

A totally captivating exciting and original work. Bears some similarity to Bartok's music for SP&C but definitely no imitation of anything else. A fabulous neoclassical concerto grosso. It should be performed regularly but I guess it is down to finding soloists to perform it... Shame because it is utterly beguiling.

Balance is the challenge, apart from style. It calls for a Pleyel harpsichord of Landowska's type, which are rare now.

this is great! the second movement left me motionless and speechless (feels like a Shostakovich-Britten crossover and much more). thank you for this, I love it!

As great as anything Shostakovich wrote. A shame that it's not more well known and performed.

We need more Martin in our concerts, and perhaps a bit less Shostakovich...

Balanchine choreographed it, inexplicably, but that meant it was performed a lot in New York City.

One of the greatest 20th c. compositions. Extraordinarily worked out. Martin uses the 12 tone system while keeping everything tonal. (Probably Schoenberg would not have approved. The second part of this piece is fabulously exciting.! A wonderful performance!

Where do you hear this being 12-tone? Use your ears.
