Not enough shelving space. Makes sense. Didn't know this one was discontinued. That might be the reason I grabbed these so cheaply on the Aramni site. Yup, same thing with the ADGs.Not a fan of calone, but for the price, ring me up. Yes, Absolu is a little too sweet like Profumo. The Gold is too, but I own them now. What was the other one I picked up, Colonia? That wasn't too bad. Picked up a couple of them. I have a big ol box of Aramni, just like I do with YSL. I wore YSL's L'homme Sport the other day. I was transported back in time to the mall eating Sabaro pizza and watching the people walk around. Armani, YSL, and Prada take up the most room in my closet. That said, Guerlain, Dior, and Chanel, along with Hermes are my favorites in the designer game. Ya know, I wouldn't pay up for an Aramani discontinued, but I would for a Dior. Oh, got to sample Givenchy vintage Gentleman. Really nice. I'd pay up a little for that one.

i really love your review sir. very honest, no hyping, what a true review should be. this is definitely a 10 for life fragrance for me, but to each his own. i also love that you somehow compared this to jpg le male le parfum coz these 2 are kinda my go-to date fragrances. two thumbs up for you sir! 👍👍

Excellent review Robes! You nailed it. I had a big bottle of this and due to the hype around it, i kept telling my self it was a great fragrance. Honestly it was just ok and like you said it, better than Profumo but just did not have the wow factor. I sold it off

Honestly it helps others out as I'm not trying to sell them this item while trying to get clicks calling it "best of code" etc... but it also helps me in my journey. Now I have more experience with the Code line if someone asks me. I think it's worth the time to continue to learn and grow.

I actually picked up the original Code (edt) based on your review back in the day in like 2010. I really liked it but outgrew it and moved on to better things fairly quickly. The first time I tried this one I wasn't too impressed. Especially with all the hype I had higher expectations. But as I wore it more it really grew on me and became one of my favorites for super versatile dumb reach cold weather frags. Sometimes it can be a bit too sweet. But I actually really love this one. Grabbed a backup bottle as soon as I found out it had been officially discontinued. I think it walks that line of youthful and sexy yet classy and a touch sophisticated perfectly

Talk about classing up a fragrance, are you familiar with Code Absolu GOLD? That one uses saffron as one of the notes, to class up the composition. Would love to hear your take on that flanker and its way of upgrading the classiness of that scent profile

Code Profumo and Absolu have migrated to “personal enjoyment scent” only options. I wear them only when I get nostalgic. Definitely code Profumo over code Absolu

Good review! I would only add that if you like Code in general and already have EDP, it’s hard to top that. I opted to buy Gold Absolu which felt to me a little more nuanced and complex but I agree that this is not new and there’s enough tonka in EDP not to buy this…

Whats interesting is how they came out with this & then a year later, the Absolu Gold. Very similar to absolu but smoother. I almost wonder if they couldn’t decide between Profumo, absolu and absolu gold so they eventually released all of them. 😂

​@@robes08Well it's funny that you say that because Absolu Gold actually had iris in it as well but didn't sell as well/wasn't as popular as Absolu. I feel like they couldn't decide between carrot seed and iris so tried both and ended up discontinuing all of them in order to simplify and streamline the line and then added the iris again to the parfum to class it up even more and also raise the price tag

Grabbed this one a few years ago when I was pretty early my journey and was still susceptible to the hype trains. Weird thing is, I hated it at first. I had paid damn near retail so I made myself wear it a few times, but just wasn't digging it. I started to sell it after it was discontinued, but for some reason I didn't. I broke it out last winter and ended up liking it the few times I wore it, but I'm still kinda on the fence about it. I think if it had a bit of a cherry or almond kick in it, I would like it a bit more. I think I'll hang on to it, though. I've reached a point where I enjoy having some discontinued frags just because, even if I only occasionally spray them to wear around the house.

Great review Marc! Armani Code Absolu Gold (2020) has Iris in it - its way classier you should sample it! - Would you say Code Ultimate is in the same vein as Code Profumo and Code Absolu? Ultimate is still my favorite flanker -2nd is Ice then Special Blend.

I recall Emporio Armani He being one of my early fragrance purchases that I deliberately googled and came up with in 2010 or so based on popular sentiment of the day. I’ve also discovered Basenotes around the same time while doing that research. Lol. Just wanted to see what was popular out there, now it seems like ages ago 😂 Oh, and the fragrance was shit, btw. Gave me headaches, so I haven’t purchased any other stuff from the brand since then. 😖

Armani code gold edition has iris discontinued. If I can remember, the suede is amped up a touch, or it could be the iris playing tricks on me.

Absolu was decent. 7.5 is fair for me. Code Profumo is at least a 9 for me. It’s beast mode and I get this rootbeer sparkle with some spice and heavy sweetness. Statement maker for me. Personally the parfum is nice, it’s codes take on Prada lhomme (fresh iris) wish they went more to Prada lhomme intense and darkened it up. Codes line main failure is not gong dark enough, leave Gio for the fresh takes, code should focus on being darker overall

Personally, I still prefer Profumo over this one. Absolu is, I feel, the Code that had missed potential. It seems as if Armani almost went in a direction with this one that would have made it somewhat daring and very classy, but hit the brakes. Had they amped up the suede and added a boozy edge.... It's still a good dumb reach, though, for chilling with friends.
