It's a great laptop. Not everyone is obsessed with playing games on their laptop. I suspect most people aren't.
@Dragonblaster116 күн бұрын
I play older games like the Tomb Raider franchise, the Witcher franchise, the Hitman franchise, XCOM 2: WOTC, Beyond a Steel Sky and even older games. No problem. I did buy a hulking Alienware gaming laptop, but after trying newer games prioritising flashy graphics over gameplay, I went back to the older games, and I didn't need it. I do need the power plugged in on the Surface for any long gaming sessions, but I do wish my full Adobe subscription worked. For that. I still need to use the Alienware. And that always has to be plugged in at home for anything, not just playing the flashy games I don't play.

A survey revealed around 60% casually game at least. So, it is a big part of the Windows market and explains why sales were well below expectations and why there were significant returns.
@bradavon12 күн бұрын
@@andyH_EnglandNonsense. Not a chance 60% of people who use Windows game. Hokum.
@bradavon12 күн бұрын
Yeah exactly. All this attention on games when the majority of Windows use it don't.

Yes agree. I have a surface pro (x elite) and whilst i think overall the surface laptops are the better value for money in general i think they’re good machines. I haven’t really felt any compatibility issues at all to be honest and get a lot of work done (analytical). I hope the platform takes off. Note, im not a gamer but generally I don’t buy laptops for gaming in any case.

Our organization is very happy with the results of testing about 50 devices and Surface Laptop 7, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, & Dell Latitude 7455 were the Snapdragon devices we tested. This is a working environment and they were perfect and the battery life blew everyone away, especially the travelers in our company. We are all in and the Surface devices build quality blows away the Asus products and our test of the Lunar Lake was not as much of a positive outcome. These devices are perfect for a work environment. With our AV and other agents and VPN software initially they were not available on ARM natively but slowly everything we need is available on ARM for us natively.

we bought 2 Arm based computers so far and we really like them.

Did you just switch the battery life graphs between Intel and AMD at 7:06 ?
@kartikpintuАй бұрын
Exactly what I thought. Lunar lake is arguably better than amd in battery life, as evident in out KZbin videos
@itsmilan406927 күн бұрын
yeah it kind seems suspicious as Luner Lake to their credit are insanely efficient compared to previous Intel chips

I cannot find a printer and scanner that's compatible with ARM. Brother for example has no drivers available for ARM, none, zero. You can only print to Brother printers with Microsoft's built in printer driver, but you cannot scan to your computer.

Thanks for the review, would you recommend the surafce laptop 7 over the zenbook s14 for a student who just does basic tasks, web browsing and Microsoft office?

Honestly the S14 if you don't want to deal with compatibly. The S14 also has really great battery life.

I would wait for the upcoming Intel Surface Laptop 7i. I have no idea why anyone would buy the Snapdragon if they were priced the same. But the reality is if you choose ARM, then on Amazon in the UK, the SL7 and MB Pro 14 M4 are both priced at £1450 with the same spec (512GB/16GB) and the Mac is much more performant, especially in GPU and CPU single-core. Plus, Apple SIlicon is now a mature product with fewer compatibility issues. So, as good as the SL7 is for some, the MB Pro M4 is better and a no-brainer unless you have a deep-seated prejudice against Apple.

I'm a MacBook user tempted to switch to Zenbook or Slim but I'm not a fan of worrying about driver, firmware, & updating windows. MacBook u can set it and forget it. Plus MacBooks trackpad is so much better than PC trackpads.
@nabilsajid363818 күн бұрын
i just switched from mac to surface. the trackpad is actually very comparable and not like other windows laptops.

Would you recommend this laptop for a student, where Microsoft Office applications are used daily, as well as Google and all? or what are your thoughts of the 'HP Envy x360 14-fc0025TU EVO 14" FHD+ 2-in-1 Laptop (Intel Core Ultra 7)'. trying to decide on a compatible and reliable laptop for school.
@carlosinfantedecastro21389 күн бұрын
Beware that you will not be able to use pens with this computer.
@carlosinfantedecastro21389 күн бұрын
You failed to mention that the Surface Laptop 7 does not accept any kind of pen (not even the Surface Pen). For a long-stand Surface consumer like me, It is incredible how Microsoft did away with one of the most characteristic features of the whole Surface line since its inception (the use of pens), and did so without any reference to it on the site or the support commercial material made available.

I have the older Intel version, nicest laptop ever except it is a Microsoft with limited ports and MS is known for not caring about their products (see Surface Duo). The Intel version is known for massive power/ reboot issues that M$ doesn't acknowledge (search for it). Maybe that is why they are trying ARM. My question is how is the power usage (compared to an Intel)? Like I saiud above I already have the Intel version, is the saving on battery drain worth an upgrade. I am aware of the software issues (incompatible) with Arm. I will use this for work (Data Center field engineer) with pdf manuals, Teams comms, Outlook. This maybe the nicest keyboard in a thin and light laptop except for maybe a thinkpad.

Compatibility really isn't as bad as this video makes out. It does what MacOS does and runs x86 apps well.
@roearchive6366Ай бұрын
To make a long story short - every new system has its down before it goes up. Macs had it too, when they were switching to ARM. If you don't plan on gaming / editing on it, it's as good as you can get. I'd go for it, but I've already gotten myself the GPD Pocket 4 - Ryzen 370 HX, 64GB, 2TB.

If I can offer some constructive criticism, you focus a little too strongly on super specific details that are of no real use to anyone, they kind of just take space in the video that would be better served discussing something more important. This is noticeable when you mention the full name of the device, or when you go super in depth about the specifications, like with the RAM and speakers. DDR5 is just standard nowadays, and dolby speakers are not crazy at all. Mentioning these things is fine, but maybe just cut it down to "it has 16GB of RAM and Dolby Atmos speakers", rather than the whole spec sheet. Just my two cents.

Same, I just bought the surface pro x plus (platinum) and i love it. I also have a gaming PC and a Steam deck but i don't always want to play games and just chill and do work or browse the web casually. I didn't want to get the OLED model but this IPS panel is really, REALLY great, one of the best i've seen.

While I understand the frustration over the placement - since this runs Windows on ARM it behaves more like your phone. Meaning you can just press it again and you're right back in 😊
