Melting Silver - Making Hand Poured Silver Bars at Home
In this video, I'll be melting some silver bullion (Generic Rounds) into some more of my RFT Channel Bars, using my new Devil Forge Furnace or Foundry!
I am still an amateur when it comes to pouring and stamping as I only get a little practice every other week BUT I love trying my best and it's always a lot of fun.
Hopefully, you all enjoy this pour video and don't give me too hard of a time. :)

You might want to try cleaning up the crucible and removing surface slag with carbon rod before poring, also heating the molds to red/yellow hot give the air a change to escape before the silver cools eliminating voids on the bottom of the bar, finally if you tap out the bars onto sheet rock no danger of scratches or dings so no need to polish. Hope that helps and keep up the good work.

is that why my bars always have little holes and cracks in the bottom? i heated up the mold but not till it turns red or yellow

@PHUCKyoutube689 Жыл бұрын
A few of those rounds carry a pretty high premium. However he is making bars that will sell for a pretty good premium themselves. In this situation he messed up but normally he would probably get more selling the channel bars then he would get for generic rounds. This is what they make .999 shot for or even a generic kilo bar.

It actually cost more to cast those bars. Because you have to use energy to melt them with propane. Then you have to make sure you have the tools to stamp them and polish etc. etc. You are basically doing what a bullion maker already did

The voids on the bottom of the bars is from the gases built up in the metal from the propane..electrical furnaces dont give this issue when pouring silver. But I think it gives the bars more character..I find it easier to pour from a smaller crucible but that's just me.

Nice bars! In would also like to make some silver bars. I have a devilforge, exact the same you have. But I think I will use an electril furnace/kiln for silver. I will also prepare a pouring setup with a burner hitting those moulds while pouring. Give them a small tap while solodifying will give them some nice ripples, just the way I love them! I will also need to invest in a tumbler to get them as smooth and shiny as possible. Hopefully one day when I build a new shed or buy a garage box I will start melting silver. Just subbed 😁👍👍👍
