In this video, I'll be melting some .999 fine silver shot into some more of my RFT Channel Bars, using my electronic furnace. I am still an amateur when it comes to pouring and stamping as I only get a little practice every other week BUT I love trying my best and it's always a lot of fun. Hopefully, you all enjoy this pour video and don't give me too hard of a time. :) Want to become a Channel Member? Thank you, I have a nice guy coming from New York to melt down almost 4lbs and I'm used to smaller melts. Your info about preheating the tongs and molds was great I knew to do the molds for a better pour but not because they could fracture like river rock. I'm using propane and a homemade forge using firebrick from my Coal stove restoration days so I'm getting there. Great work and great Information!!

Open mold you're always looking at an uneven pour. Try closed sand mold some day, you'll be surprised of the difference. Closed port molds take more time and work, because file and sand to get them smooth. You had me rolling on the floor with your 3 oz hammer.

Very cool video. If you were melting Constitutional silver, do you know the process to separate the silver from the copper?

I know the process, but I won't do it for safety reasons. I'll leave that to the pros!
@alfredparsons68113 жыл бұрын
I have no interest in trying it. I decided I was going to learn how to cast lead bullets. First time I went to watch there was a live primer in the pot. When it exploded it hit him in the neck and we had to go to the ER. That ended my desire to mold anything.

Hi guys. I want to start my adventure with jewelery making, and to be more specyfic silver and gold casting The problem is, that due to my country policies I legally can not use big gas tanks nor oxygen, only thing I can use are those handheld torches with propane or butane in them (I don't know about MAPP gas but internet says it needs oxygen so guess its out of question as well). Is it possible to sand cast silver using those one of those 2 gases as a fuel? I want to cast very small things such as neclace pendants, earrings ect 1 at a time, that will weigh about 5-10 grams (0,18-0.35Oz) tops

True (I do use a piece of heavy cardboard), and I need to use a fire resistant cloth where I dump them out of the molds after pouring.

Thanks for showing us how to pour and stamp. Just curious what the initial cost is for the equipment and the 100 oz silver shot? It seems that you are making all of the channel members happy by offering these for sale--great memento of the channel and your creativity. Getting to be kind of a status symbol now--to own one of Rob's home pours. Wowza--you go brother--(thinking maybe you can buy a Harley with your profits and do your dew-rag proud--Just sayin'!) Take Charlani on a wild ride to Sturgis next year. Eh? "that's some good goodies right there!" Love you, brother.

Almost looks toned, how long until you take them out of molds, how long do you leave the pours soak, what makes something. 9999 fine instead of. 999 fine, how did you make the egg tone and why preheat the tongs? Great video brother and sorry about all the questions.
