This album brought Robin and Maurice back writing together and producing whilst Barry was doing his own album Now Voyager. Maurice played guitar and synthesizer as well as backing vocals. I also think all three wrote one or two of the songs. Good dance music which I think Robin was aiming for.

Robin said "Good songs don't get dated. Nobody says, Oh Mozart is SO 1780's". The video may be but this song is still fun. He had IMO the best solo career and the best solo albums with a lot of help from Mo. Venice is gorgeous but it is sinking so go soon. I was having lunch in Piazza San Marco and before I finished the water was up to my ankles with the tide! Before I went out for a walk one evening I decided I needed a sweater so grabbed one out of my suitcase. I walked all through Venice not knowing a bra had attached itself to the back of my sweater when I grabbed it. Talk about a tourist! Oh to share a gondola ride with Rob! Love his alternating high and low pitch near the end. Effortless.

Huge! This was a hit all over the world and especially in Italy and South Africa and it was issued on Robin's 1984) cold wave album '’SECRET AGENT’’ of which I do love all songs and especially : "Robot" that's a kind of reggae , "Secret agent", " X-Ray eyes", "Rebecca", "Diamonds" ....Don't we forget that this album was created with collaboration by his tween brother Maurice.! It was also the case for two other albums "How old are you" (1983) and "Walls have eyes" (1985).

See... Robin could do more upbeat tunes, I love this as well as his ballads, I have a collection of Robin from his solo indeavers, I think he wanted to do more of his own thing, though Maurice and Barry helped with background vocals and production with Robin on some of his solo work. When asked about his solo work he would say I'm just a Bee Gee making music. This is a happy upbeat tune

A trip to Venice! Twotimes in my life, I've been there. Thrilling as it is, it's also very expensive. So Chad, I'd like to give you a tip. Just about forty miles southern, there's a city named Chioggia. Has also some channels, a big wide open sea and a beautiful, little harbour. You can walk along pretty lanes without beeing pushed by much to many people. So nice, sitting down and drinking an espresso and having a lunch, which doesn't cost all the money you have in your pocket.

@@lindagarcia8826 You are so welcome Linda, I don't think very many know what Robin was capable of. At just 17 he stormed this and on the very last note, I heard a bit of the vibratta we were going to get to know and love. I cry everytime I hear this, mainly for Robin and his suffering from losing his twin, Barry refusing to carry on as a twosome and then his cancer diagnosis. I would say the last 10yrs of his life were pretty lonely & miserable without his brothers. We're the fortunate ones, we have his music for always....He really was the most talented of the three. Somewhere is not an easy song to sing but Robin hit every note and his vocal gymnastics were on point, he never dropped a beat. I'm really happy I was able to share this and happier still that you enjoyed it. Wishing you & yours a very Merry Christmas & Happy New year. Best wishes from Derry city, N. Ireland. 🎄🎅🎤👏

@@paulakivelehan.beegeesme4076 Hi Paula, I agree with your comments too. Robin was very gifted with an ethereal voice touched by God's hands. I've heard "Somewhere" sang by the very best known accomplished singers and Robins version was astonishing to say the least. It touched my heart deeply. I very much needed to hear a song like this too, THANK YOU again. You probably have heard this song, but in case you hadn't "Please," is such a similar song to "Somewhere," Robin sings with such passion in his voice for love lost. In The video you can see the heartbreaking pain Robin must be feeling as Maurice had passed weeks earlier. I feel he was relating the words in this song to Maurice's passing. I've never seen Robin look so extremely sad at a performance, truely heartbreaking. I forwarded you the link to "Please." I live in the USA I was so excited and thrilled to see your greeting from Ireland. @@lindagarcia8826 Hello Linda,. Thank you for the link to Please. I have already watched this when he sang on a German TV show just one month after Mos passing. My heart broke for him, I thought he was going to cry when the audience gave him a standing ovation when he first came on and that was before he'd sang a note. Please must have been hard for him to sing. It was written by his black backing singer and Robin agreed to put it on the magnet album and make it the first single from the album. Errol must have been so pleased and how kind of Robin to do this for Errol. Little did they know what was going to happen before these pre booked appearances. Suddenly, the words took on a different meaning but Robin, being the trooper he is continued to promote it as he didn't want to let Errol down either. What a guy. The world is a lesser place without him in it Linda. It's very painful for us as fans, can you even begin to imagine what it's like for his wife Dwina. Robin would not be an easy man to get over...😢

Simple funsong, nothing more, but why not? Play it on fairground, so that's the right place for. Makes me think of a song called I.O.I.O., out of the Cucumber Castle-album, which was recorded in 1970, Bee Gees without Robin, so he left the group those days. Also belongs to fairground, but is lil more touching.

This sounds like it's come out of the Stock Aiken Waterman stable in the 80s. I can't help thinking the twins are tongue in cheek with this one. Probably just having fun with the 80s. Still, it's a catchy number, just not a BeeGee catchy number. Sounds more like a manafactured group......
@allisons36632 жыл бұрын
On the 1982 album 'How Old Are You', Robin mostly sang in a painfully high range, and now in this song he's singing the verses just the opposite, almost purposely unnatural. If he would just sing normally!!!! The chorus sounds really good, but then it goes all 80's electronic. I'm surprised it even made the Top 40, considering the weirdness and the artist's association with a much-maligned genre that was happening during the 80's. At least he looks good with a much needed haircut, lol.
